Abstract: A system and method for transmitting data is provided. A preferred embodiment comprises transmitting data by concatenating parameters for multiple service flows into a single transmission. Parameters associated with multiple service flows may be grouped together and other parameters that are not associated with multiple service flows are also preferably included within the same single transmission.
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, A method of encoding an audio bitstream at an encoder includes encoding an original low band signal at the encoder by using a closed loop analysis-by-synthesis approach to obtain a coded low band signal, encoding an original high band signal at the encoder by using an open loop energy matching approach to obtain coded high band energy envelopes, comparing an energy of the coded low band signal with an energy of a corresponding original low band signal for a subframe, and generating an indication flag that indicates whether an energy envelope perceptual correction is needed for the subframe based on comparing the energy.
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, a method of decoding an encoded audio bitstream at a decoder includes receiving the audio bitstream, decoding a low band bitstream of the audio bitstream to get low band coefficients in a frequency domain, and copying a plurality of the low band coefficients to a high frequency band location to generate high band coefficients. The method further includes processing the high band coefficients to form processed high band coefficients. Processing includes modifying an energy envelope of the high band coefficients by multiplying modification gains to flatten or smooth the high band coefficients, and applying a received spectral envelope decoded from the received audio bitstream to the high band coefficients. The low band coefficients and the processed high band coefficients are then inverse-transformed to the time domain to obtain a time domain output signal.
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a plurality of district boundary bridges (DBBs) in a plurality of second network districts configured to couple to a plurality of core bridges in a core network district and to a plurality of end-stations in the second network districts via a plurality of intermediate switches in the second network districts; wherein the core bridges and the DBBs are aware of a plurality of Media Access Control (MAC) addresses of the DBBs but are not aware of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and MAC addresses of the end-stations, and wherein the IP addresses of the end-stations are mapped in a directory service (DS) in the core network district to the MAC addresses of the corresponding DBBs in the corresponding second network districts of the end-stations.

The disclosure includes a system comprising an authorization server in communication with a host, wherein the authorization server is configured to verify a previous authentication of the host using a NSI. Also disclosed is a method comprising receiving a NSI and a service request, wherein the NSI comprises an Auth ID, determining an authentication server associated with the Auth ID, verifying an authentication of a host using the Auth ID, and authorizing the host to receive a service associated with the service request.

Abstract: A system and method for content and application acceleration in a wireless communications system are provided. A method for transmitting data includes receiving a block of data from a content provider, generating a signature from the block of data, and determining if the signature exists in a content cache. The content cache includes previously transmitted signatures and blocks of data associated with the previously transmitted signatures. The method also includes if the signature exists in the content cache, saving the signature but not the block of data in a buffer. The method further includes if the signature does not exist in the content cache, saving the block of data in the buffer. The method additionally includes transmitting contents of the buffer over a backhaul link.
Abstract: Method and system for managing address prefix information associated with handover in network. A fast handover process is achieved for point-to-point communication model. A mobile node send a provisional new care-of-address with an aggregate prefix part to its previous access router, which forwards the address to a new access router. The new access router in response generates a modified new care-of-address with a unique prefix part for the mobile node. Alternatively, the mobile node sends a request to the previous access router for a unique prefix. The request is forwarded from the previous access router to the new access router. The new access router assigns a unique prefix for the mobile node.
Abstract: A system and method for adapting code rate are provided. A method for a first communication device to transmit a resource assignment to at least one communication device includes assigning at least one transmission resource to transmit the resource assignment, adapting a code rate of an encoded payload based on the at least one transmission resource and a threshold, thereby producing an adapted payload, and transmitting the adapted payload.

Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for managing resource within a predetermined soft handoff group in an OFDM based telecommunications system. Logical radio resources are separated into at least one set to support the soft handoff group and at least one set for supporting normal communication traffic. At least one physical radio resource is identified for each logical radio resource in the set for supporting the SHOG according to a predetermined mapping function so as to minimize resource collision.

Based on the determining, if the user device will decode the further resource element, a second group of resource elements is transmitted, where at least one of the resource elements of the second group of resource elements corresponding with the at least one of the resource elements of the first group does not include a reference element.

A method for transmitting information includes determining correlations between communications devices served by a communications controller and communications devices served by neighboring communications controllers, selecting a communications device from the communications devices served by the communications controller, adjusting a manner of transmission of a transmission containing information to the selected communications device based on a correlation for the selected communications device, and transmitting the transmission to the selected communications device.
Abstract: System and method for wireless channel sensing. According to an embodiment, the present invention provides a method of determining band availability for a WRAN. The method includes receiving wirelessly analog signals within a predetermined range of frequencies. The method also includes converting the analog signals to digital signals. The digital signals are characterized in a frequency domain. The method additionally includes determining a plurality of signal strength levels associated with the digital signals at a plurality of frequencies. Furthermore, the method includes comparing the plurality of signal strength levels to reference levels at the plurality of frequencies. Moreover, the method includes determining band availability for wireless communication at the predetermined range of frequencies.
Abstract: Method and system for providing quality of service in communication network. According to an embodiment, the present invention provides a communication network system. The communication network system includes a first entity that is configured to store information on a first database and to provide first network access information. The first database is configured to store at least the first network access information. The system also includes a mobile station that is capable of sending and receiving first data via a wireless connection, the mobile station that is capable of sending one or more requests for a service flow. The system also includes a second entity that is configured to provide wireless access to the mobile station. The second entity is capable of exchanging information with the first entity. Abstract: A system and method for spatial multiplexing for coordinated multi-point transmission are provided. A method for communications device operations includes receiving transmissions from at least two access points, measuring channels between the communications device and each of the at least two access points based on the received transmissions, computing beamforming weights based on the measured channels, and transmitting the beamforming weights to the at least two access points. The computing is based on attempting to maximize a capacity of a communications system containing the communications device and the at least two access points with the beamforming weights, and the beamforming weights are used at the at least two access points to beamform transmissions to the communications device using coordinated multi-point transmission.
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a path computation element (PCE) configured to communicate with a path computation client (PCC) and compute a point-to-multipoint (P2MP) path across an autonomous system (AS) domain. Also included is a network component comprising at least one processor configured to implement a method comprising obtaining a computation request for a P2MP path across a plurality of AS domains, attempting to calculate the P2MP path across the AS domains, thereby generating a computed path or a failure reason, and transmitting a reply comprising the computed path or an indication of the failure reason. Included is a method comprising exchanging a request message and a reply message about a P2MP path across an AS domain between a PCC and a PCE.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of serving media includes receiving user profiles from a layer3 node in an access network, and receiving a request to serve media content to a user equipment. The user profiles include information relating to user account and/or network characteristics of the user equipment. The method further includes using an user equipment information from the user profiles, assigning a first media server from a hierarchical set of media servers to serve the user equipment if the media content to be served is cacheable. The hierarchical set of media servers include a plurality of first type of media servers deployed in a plurality of layer2 (L2) access networks. The user equipment is coupled to a content delivery network through a layer2 access network of the plurality of layer2 access networks.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of serving media includes receiving a delivery log of traffic use after every first time interval for an user equipment. The user equipment is part of a hot billing class of users. The traffic use comprises data usage by the user equipment during communication with a media server in a layer2 access network. A user traffic information computed from the delivery log is transmitted to a billing center. A account status information is received from the billing center. The account status information is received if the user equipment exceeds a user account metric. A session termination information based on the account status information is transmitted.
