Abstract: A system and method for preserving neighborhoods in codes are provided. A method for transmitting information includes receiving an information string to transmit, generating a first address and a second address from the information string, encoding the first address and the second address with a layered code encoder, thereby producing a codeword and transmitting the codeword. The generating is based on a linear block code.
Abstract: A method and apparatus of signaling radio resource allocation in a wireless communication system includes transmitting at least one region boundary to a mobile station indicating a division of the time-frequency resources into at least two regions, determining a time-frequency resource assignment for the mobile station, transmitting an indication of the determined time-frequency resource to the mobile station in the same region as the determined time-frequency resource, and transmitting a packet to the mobile station using the physical time-frequency resources corresponding to the determined time-frequency resource.

Abstract: A system and method for iteration scheduling in joint equalization and turbo decoding are provided. A method for processing received information includes cancelling interference in a received signal bearing received information, decoding the interference cancelled received signal to produce information, and processing the received information. Abstract: A method for wireless communication comprises a donor enhanced Node B (eNB) transmitting system information for a subframe structure to a relay node (RN), which information comprises radio resource configuration and/or timing information for uplink backhaul transmission. The RN uses an automatic method to select the Round Trip Time (RTT) value for the Hybrid Automatic Repeat request (HARQ) on the uplink backhaul (Un) relay link. The RTT value is implicitly determined according to the Un (backhaul) subframe or MBSFN subframe configuration periodicity. The RTT option is signaled by the Un subframe configuration period of the MBSFN Un downlink signals.
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting a control channel are provided. A method for communications controller operations includes generating a first control message from a first group of information, where the first control message occupies two transmission resources, and where a physical transmission resource includes a pair of distributed transmission resources. The method also includes mapping a first transmission resource to a first distributed transmission resource having a first index, and mapping a second transmission resource to a second distributed transmission resource having a second index, where the first index and the second index differ by a value equal to a difference in indices of distributed transmission resources in the pair of distributed transmission resources, and where the difference in indices is greater than or equal to two.

Abstract: A system and method for recovering from a failure is disclosed. A preferred embodiment comprises downloading a first patch into a base station, installing the first patch, loading the first patch, and validating the first patch. Once the first patch has been validated, a second patch may be downloaded, installed, loaded, and verified. This incremental remediation approach allows for the conservation of resources if the system is non-recoverable, as this will become evident prior to a complete download and install is performed.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of creating a skimming preview of a video includes electronically receiving a plurality of video shots, analyzing each frame in a video shot from the plurality of video shots, where analyzing includes determining a saliency of each frame of the video shot. The method also includes determining a key frame of the video shot based on the saliency of each frame the video shot, extracting visual features from the key frame, performing shot clustering of the plurality of video shots to determine concept patterns based on the visual features, and generating a reconstruction reference tree based on the shot clustering. The reconstruction reference tree includes video shots categorized according to each concept pattern.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for downlink beamforming that takes into account imperfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter when determining the steering vector used in the beamforming process. The steering vector is calculated to increase the ratio of the average power of a desired signal component to the sum of the interference power of other wireless terminals, referred to as the signal-to-leakage ratio. By accounting for imperfect CSI when calculating the steering vector, the bit-error rate for a given signal-to-noise ratio is decreased. Also disclosed is a power allocation method that improves performance of the system by increasing the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio for all of the wireless terminals currently communicating with the base station. The power allocation similarly decreases the bit-error rate for a given signal-to-noise ratio, especially at high signal-to-noise ratios.
