    Abstract: A communications system and a method for performing communications are provided.     Abstract: A memory control unit of a turbo code decoder includes a buffer having a plurality of storage slots, a buffer control operatively coupled to the buffer, a router operatively coupled to the buffer control and to a plurality of data sources, and a conflict detection unit operatively coupled to the router, to the buffer control, and to the plurality of data sources. The buffer temporarily stores information intended for storage in a memory bank. The buffer control determines a number of available storage slots in the buffer. The router routes data from the data sources to the buffer control. The conflict detection unit initiates a temporary halt of some of the data sources when the number of available storage slots is insufficient to store all of the data from data sources attempting to access the memory bank.

    Abstract: A system and method is provided for employing six-bit rank 1 and 2 codebooks for multiple transmit antennas. A channel estimate is generated for a communications channel that can be established between a communications device and a controller serving the communications device. The channel estimate can be quantized using a codebook to produce a selected codeword. An index corresponding to the selected codeword can be transmitted to the controller. The codebook can include a plurality of first level codewords, with each first level codeword having a plurality of subsidiary codewords. The quantizing can be in the form of a search of the first level codewords followed by a search of a subset of a plurality of subsidiary codewords, and the codebook can be derived at least in part from a rank of communications between the communications device and the controller.

    Abstract: A soft switching apparatus comprises an energy recovery channel formed by two diodes in series connection and a resonant tank formed by an inductor and a capacitor. The soft switching apparatus is coupled to the primary side of a bridge converter. An energy transfer process during L-C resonance helps to reduce the amplitude of the current flowing through the inductor in a freewheeling period. Furthermore, the soft switching apparatus can help to reduce the voltage stress across the secondary switching devices as well as the shoot-through currents flowing through the secondary switching devices, and thus enabling the reduction or elimination of dead time in a secondary synchronous rectifier control scheme.

The first phase includes iteratively inverting a first filtering operation on received signals, and the second phase includes iteratively inverting a second filtering operation on received signals with consideration given to a first estimation error of symbols of the first user and a second estimation error of symbols of the second user.     Abstract: In the system acquisition process system information is non-coherently detected using correlation of reconstructed and received preamble signals, such as the primary broadcast control channel (PBCCH) and the acquisition pilots (TDM1, TDM2, and TDM3). The phase correlation signals between the correlated signals of PBCCH and TDM2 or TDM3 and between the correlated signals of TDM2 and TDM3 are combined to decode other sector interference (OSI) information and the like. Acquisition is also made more efficient by taking advantage of predictable information based on system synchronicity. The sync/async bit is included in at least one of the acquisition pilots. The mobile then uses knowledge of system synchronicity to more efficiently detect the additional information in the superframe preamble.
