Abstract: Decorative sheet type material and process for making same. The material comprises a substrate, an embossed foamed plastic layer, a translucent layer having raised portions corresponding to embossed portions of the embossed layer and preferably a wear layer. The process involves forming an embossed foamed plastic layer on a substrate, covering the embossed layer with a layer of heat curable translucent plastic and then heating the materials sufficiently to cure the translucent plastic and also to allow embossed portions of the embossed layer to partially expand to create raised portions of the translucent layer corresponding to embossed areas of the embossed layer.

Abstract: A novel glass fiber mat is described herein. The mat includes a plurality of substantially uniformly enmeshed individual filament fibers which comprise at least 70% by weight of the fibrous component of the mat. The mat is further characterized in that less than 20% of the area of the mat are voids which extend through the thickness of the mat, the rest being fibrous material, of said voids, at least 80%, 30% and 10%, have an equivalent diameter whose size is less than about 50 microns, 10 microns and 5 microns, respectively. This mat has an exceedingly high tensile strength both in the machine and the cross-machine directions.
Abstract: What is provided herein is a method of dispersing bundles of glass fibers for making uniform glass fiber mats by the wet-laid process. Well-dispersed glass fiber compositions are prepared herein by agitating chopped bundles of glass fibers in water with a small amount of a surfactant which is a polyethoxylated derivative of the amide condensation product of fatty acids and polyethylenepolyamines. The dispersions are formed at relatively high glass fiber consistencies, and at low surfactant concentrations.
Abstract: Disclosed are improved core-shell polymer compositions and an improved process for applying patterns to textiles by screen printing employing these polymer compositions as binders. The polymer comprises a core of styrene-butadiene copolymer which is at least partially encased by an integral shell of a copolymer of butyl methacrylate and methyl acrylate. When used as a binder in a screen printing process, this composition produces textiles which exhibit a surprisingly desirable combination of the properties of crock fastness, cyclic aging and hand.

Abstract: Dielectric films comprising a support member which is capable of acquiring an electrostatic charge on passing through toner pick up toner randomly which is not fixed during development. The unwanted toner pick up is minimized by applying a coat of anti-static material and/or a toner fixing resin to the uncoated back of the support. The present invention improves blocking characteristics of dielectric film by modifying the surface by means of adding particulate materials to the final coat on one or both surfaces of the support.
