  • Patent number: 6181788
Abstract: Uniform control of mixed platforms is provided in telephony by connecting computer-telephony integration (CTI) processors to telephony switching units in a network, and connecting the CTI processors by data links separate from the telephony links connecting the platforms. The switching units may be of different manufacture, type, and function, and may have CTI ports adapted to communicate with auxiliary processors by different CTI protocol. The CTI processors execute server applications that are capable of communicating by the various CTI protocols and with each opther as well, and are adapted also to provide uniform control of the switching units. Switching units may be variously be located in networks, such as publicly switched telephony networks, or in private equipment sets at customer premises.

  • Patent number: 6178840
Abstract: A gearing system which includes a pair of conjugate gears. The tooth profile of the first gear lies entirely within the pitch circle of the first gear, and the tooth profile of the mating gear lies entirely outside the pitch circle of the mating gear. The profile of the first gear is fully or partially concave, and the tooth profile of the mating gear is fully or partially convex. The profiles of the conjugate gear pair may have constant, or nearly constant, relative curvature. Alternatively, due to the shape of the profiles, constant, or nearly constant, contact stress results when the gears are in mesh.

  • Patent number: 6177922
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method and apparatus for producing video signal timing for a display device that has a display format different from the input video format. It also provides a method and apparatus for producing video signal timing in cases where the input video line rate and display output line rates are not the same. Furthermore, a method and apparatus are provided for synchronizing the display output line rate to the input line rate so that the source video line input rate can sustain the rate at which the input lines are processed to generate display video lines using a minimum amount of memory buffer for a variety of display processing methods. Another aspect of the present invention provides a method and apparatus for synchronizing display output timing to input video timing such that both are locked in terms of frame rate, but skewed in terms of frame phase, in order to accommodate latency incurred by processing of source video data to generate the display video data.

  • Patent number: 6175563
Abstract: An Internet Protocol Telephony Network (IPNT) call-routing system has a first processor adapted for receiving and initial processing of incoming IPNT calls from a wide area network (WAN). At the first processor information about callers is elicited. Calls are routed to remote processors for distribution to individual stations over the WAN, and information about the callers is sent to the same remote processors by a data link separate from the WAN. The WAN may be the Internet, and caller information may be used at the remote processors for further routing, and to retrieve customer information from available databases, which may be displayed on video displays at workstations to which the calls are routed.

  • Patent number: 6175564
Abstract: An Internet Protocol Network Telephony (IPNT) system has Internet-connected managing computers at plural call centers connected to local agent stations at each call center. The managing computers are adapted to receive IPNT calls from clients at internal routing points. A router coupled to each of the managing computers at the call centers is adapted to execute routing rules to select agent stations for transferring calls received at the routing points, and the agent stations selected can be at any of the call centers involved. In one aspect the router, having selected an agent station at a call center remote from the call center where a call to be routed is first received, requests a routing point address at the remote call center, then transfers the call to that new routing point. The second call center then further routes the transferred call to the final agent station.

  • Patent number: 6171965
Abstract: A method for treating a film of material, which can be defined on a substrate, e.g., silicon. The method includes providing a substrate comprising a cleaved surface, which is characterized by a predetermined surface roughness value. The substrate also has a distribution of hydrogen bearing particles defined from the cleaved surface to a region underlying said cleaved surface. The method also includes increasing a temperature of the cleaved surface to greater than about 1,000 Degrees Celsius while maintaining the cleaved surface in a etchant bearing environment to reduce the predetermined surface roughness value by about fifty percent and greater. Preferably, the value can be reduced by about eighty or ninety percent and greater, depending upon the embodiment.

  • Patent number: 6162705
Abstract: A method for forming a film of material (12) from a donor substrate (10). The technique has a step of introducing energetic particles (22) through a surface of a donor substrate (10) to a selected depth (20) underneath the surface, where the particles have a relatively high concentration to define a donor substrate material (12) above the selected depth. An energy source is directed to a selected region of the donor substrate to initiate a controlled cleaving action of the substrate (10) at the selected depth (20), whereupon the cleaving action provides an expanding cleave front to free the donor material from a remaining portion of the donor substrate. A step of increasing a built-in energy state of the substrate is also included.

  • Patent number: 6159825
Abstract: A technique for forming films of material (12) from a donor substrate (10). The technique has a step of introducing energetic particles (22) through a surface of a donor substrate (10) to a selected depth (20) underneath the surface, where the particles have a relatively high concentration to define donor substrate material (12) above the selected depth. Energy is provided to a selected region of the substrate to cleave a thin film of material from the donor substrate. • Patent number: 6159824
Abstract: A method for fabricating silicon-on-silicon substrates. A donor wafer (40) is attached to a target wafer (46) using a low-temperature bonding process. The low-temperature bonding process maintains the integrity of a layer of microbubbles (41). Subsequent processing separates a thin film (45) of material from the donor wafer. A high-temperature annealing process finishes the bonding process of the thin film to the target wafer to produce a hybrid wafer suitable for fabricating integrated circuit devices or other devices.

  • Patent number: 6155909
Abstract: A technique for forming a film of material (12) from a donor substrate (10). The technique has a step of introducing energetic particles (22) in a selected manner through a surface of a donor substrate (10) to a selected depth (20) underneath the surface, where the particles have a relatively high concentration to define a donor substrate material (12) above the selected depth and the particles for a pattern at the selected depth. An energy source such as pressurized fluid is directed to a selected region of the donor substrate to initiate a controlled cleaving action of the substrate (10) at the selected depth (20), whereupon the cleaving action provides an expanding cleave front to free the donor material from a remaining portion of the donor substrate.

  • Patent number: 6157376
Abstract: A clock generator circuit which provides for short comparison cycles even if X and Y do not have a large common denominator when a target clock signal having a frequency of (X/Y) times the frequency of a reference clock signal is to be generated. The comparison cycle is shortened by using approximately X/L and Y/L as divisors, instead of X and Y. As X/L and/or Y/L may not equal integers, multiple divisors may be used in a weighted fashion such that the weighted averages equal X/L or Y/L as the case may be.
