Abstract: A composition comprising: (a) a thermoplastic polymer; (b) a plurality of particles, each said particle having core-shell structure and comprising, (i) a core comprising one or more magnetic materials and (ii) a shell comprising silicon dioxide; wherein the composition comprises particles (b) in an amount from 2 to 15 wt % is provided. Further provided is a connector comprising the composition, a system comprising the connector and a process for improving bonding between two or more means for conveying fluids.

Abstract: Epoxidized fatty acid alkyl esters produced, at least in part, from a natural-oil soap stock and methods for making such epoxidized fatty acid alkyl esters. Epoxidized fatty acid alkyl esters can be employed in plasticizer compositions in combination with at least one epoxidized natural oil. Such plasticizers can be employed in preparing polymeric compositions comprising a polymeric resin, such as polyvinyl chloride, and the plasticizer. Such polymeric compositions can, in turn, be employed in making various articles of manufacture, such as coatings or jackets for wires and cables.

Abstract: A family of transmission gearing arrangements produces at least nine forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio by selective engagement of three shift elements in various combinations. Abstract: An instrument panel subassembly for a motor vehicle has a cross beam providing a main structural support for the subassembly. An instrument panel substrate is mounted to the cross beam. A steering shaft assembly has an upper end with a swivel connection to the substrate and has a lower end for coupling to a steering gear assembly. A closeout trim panel comprising an elongated strip is mounted to the cross beam and has a snap-in retainer slot positioned to temporarily retain the steering shaft assembly prior to final coupling to the steering gear assembly at a substantially fixed position. The fixed position is spaced away from a final position of the steering shaft assembly when coupled to the steering gear assembly, and the retainer slot flexes to permit manual insertion and removal of the steering shaft assembly.

A rotational speed measurement unit having a sensor and a transmitter ring is located in a transmitter chamber defined by the wheel bearing and the back plate. Abstract: The fluoropolymer compositions of the present invention generally incorporate ingredients comprising one or more fluoropolymers, an ultraviolet light protection component (hereinafter UV protection component), and optionally one or more additional ingredients if desired. The UV protection component includes a combination of at least one hindered tertiary amine (HTA) compound having a certain structure and a weight average molecular weight of at least 1000. This tertiary amine is used in combination with at least one organic, UV light absorbing compound (UVLA compound) having a weight average molecular weight greater than 500. When the HTA compound and the UVLA compound are selected according to principles of the present invention, the UV protection component provides fluoropolymer compositions with significantly improved weatherability characteristics for protecting underlying materials, features, structures, components, and/or the like.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for accurately confirming fuel tank depressurization before unlocking a fuel door to enable refueling. Following a refueling request, a fuel system may be sealed from the atmosphere while one or more fuel system valves are adjusted to divert fuel tank pressure or vacuum to an engine intake. Depressurization may be inferred based on the presence of air or vapor flow into the intake as sensed by a manifold airflow sensor.
Abstract: A friction stir spot welding tool and a self-piercing riveting tool are disclosed for joining parts. The parts are clamped between a head and anvil support of the friction stir spot welding tool or the self-piercing riveting tool. A plurality of clamping and heating modules are attached to an attachment fixture on the head and the anvil support that heats the area around the pin of the friction stir spot welding tool or self-piercing riveting tool prior to and during the joining operation.

Abstract: A method for verifying the reliable operation of a fuel tank pressure transducer positioned within a fuel tank of a PHEV. The method detects the initiation of a refueling cycle, which leads to opening a system vent valve positioned between a carbon canister and a system vent, and opening a fuel tank isolation valve. A controller monitors fuel system pressure within the fuel tank and at the vent valve, and that device determines rates of change of the fuel system pressure within the fuel tank and at the outlet vent. Reliable operation of the fuel tank pressure transducer is indicated upon a determination that the rates of change of the fuel system pressure in the fuel tank and at the outlet vent are uniform within a predetermined range.

Abstract: A family of transmission gearing arrangements each establish at least one reverse gear ratio and between nine and fifteen forward gear ratios. A shiftable gearing arrangement establishes a variety of speed ratio between the input and a first shaft. In some embodiments, a fixed speed ratio is established upstream or downstream of the shiftable gearing arrangement. In reverse and low gear ratios, a low clutch couples the first shaft to the output. In the high gear ratios, a combining planetary gear set establishes a linear speed relationship between the first shaft, a second shaft rotating at a speed proportional to the input, and the output.
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for controlling air flow through a radiator. The apparatus includes a first track and a second track that receive a plurality of panels in a sliding relationship. Top and bottom engagement features of the panels engage each other to extend and retract the panels. The panels may be horizontally aligned in an intermediate or central portion of the apparatus that is disposed behind a bumper beam.

Abstract: An arrangement for securing an inner panel to a vehicle substrate uses a securing clip mounted to a clip housing in an elongate hole with a closed end and an open end. The inner diameter of a securing region in the elongate hole is greater than the diameter of the shaft of the securing clip, allowing lateral shifting of the clip so that its shaft can realign during insertion into a corresponding mating hole in the substrate. The securing region of the elongate hole includes centering members constructed in such a manner that an inserted securing clip is retained in a centered position. Consequently, the tolerance compensation function of the clips is optimized.
Abstract: Various embodiments include a system and a method for recognizing road signs. An image of a road sign may be captured by least one image sensor. A vehicle computer may receive the image data representing one or more road signs along a route and display one or more images of the road sign based on the image data. The display may be capable of presenting one or more status of the road sign based on one or more travel states for the vehicle. These travel states may include at least one of an amount of elapsed travel time, distance travelled, or speed.
