Abstract: Processes for the production of chlorinated propenes are provided. The processes make use of 1,2-dichloropropane as a starting material and subject a feedstream comprising the same to an ionic chlorination process. At least a portion of any tri- and tetrachlorinated propanes not amenable to ionic chlorination conditions are removed from the ionic chlorination product stream, or, are subjected to chemical base dehydrochlorination step. In this way, recycle of intermediates not amenable to ionic chlorination reactions is reduced or avoided, as is the buildup of these intermediates within the process. Selectivity and, in some embodiments, yield of the process is thus enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20150349679
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling a traction motor for an electrified vehicle, wherein the motor is driven by a pulse-width modulated inverter. A drive command from a driver of the vehicle is converted into a demanded torque. A substantially fixed DC link voltage is maintained from a DC power source. An input voltage for supplying to the inverter is calculated that causes the motor to deliver the demanded torque at a transition point between a constant-torque region and a field-weakening region of torque production. The voltage from the DC link is converted to the determined input voltage at an input to the inverter. By lowering the voltage applied to the inverter, switching losses and harmonic losses are reduced.

  • Publication number: 20150345435
Abstract: A system for an engine, comprising: a fuel vapor canister coupled to a fuel tank; a thermal jacket comprising a phase-change material, the thermal jacket spatially sheathing the fuel vapor canister; and an engine coolant passage positioned to transfer thermal energy between engine coolant and the phase-change material. In this way, the phase-change material may buffer the temperature of the fuel vapor canister by absorbing heat generated during hydrocarbon adsorption, and returning the heat to the vapor canister during hydrocarbon desorption. By coupling the phase-change material to engine coolant, the thermal capacity of the thermal jacket can be increased, as heated coolant can thus transfer thermal energy to the phase-change material to replace the thermal energy transferred to the canister during hydrocarbon desorption.

Abstract: A leakage detection circuit with integrated robustness check provides leakage detection and continuous robustness check capability. A circuit can include a first voltage divider coupled to a chassis ground and a positive terminal of a traction energy storage device (ESD). A second voltage divider, connected in series to the first voltage divider, can be coupled to the chassis ground and a negative terminal of the ESD. A third voltage divider can be coupled to both the positive and negative ESD terminals. A checkproduct based on a voltage detected at the third voltage divider can be compared to a sum VS of voltages detected at first and second voltage dividers to check for a circuit fault. Voltages detected at the first and second voltage dividers, and SOC values, can be used to detect leakage faults, including balanced leakage faults, and a fault response can be performed.

Abstract: A brake pedal assembly for a brake-by-wire system or vehicle having a traction battery. The brake pedal assembly has both a pedal feel simulator and an adjustable brake pedal. The pedal feel simulator has a fixed cam surface and a moving cam follower that provides increased resistance that simulates that of an actual brake system as the brake pedal arm is depressed. The brake pedal assembly has a pivotal adjustment subassembly that the cam follower may extend from. The adjustment subassembly may also have a brake pedal arm adjustably connected to and extending therefrom. The adjustment subassembly provides a consistent path of rotation per brake pedal depress allowing for the cam follower to have substantially consistent movement across the fixed cam surface, providing substantially consistent pedal feel feedback, regardless of where the brake pedal has been adjusted to within a vehicle foot-well.
