  • Patent number: 11794731
Abstract: Systems and methods of determining trajectories of an actor in an environment in which a vehicle is operating are provided. The method includes, by an object detection system of a vehicle in an environment, detecting an actor that may move within a scene in the environment. The method further includes using context of the scene to determine a reference polyline for the actor and determining a kinematic history of the actor. The method additionally includes using the kinematic history to predict a waypoint, which is a predicted position of the actor at a conclusion of a waypoint time period, and identifying a segment of the reference polyline, the segment extending from a current location to a point along the reference polyline that is closest to the waypoint and determining a trajectory for the actor conditioned by the segment of the reference polyline.

  • Patent number: 11794701
Abstract: A solenoid valve in a manifold is commanded to move to a closed position. Upon activating a pump to supply fluid to the manifold via a supply line, a first pressure is determined in the supply line after commanding the solenoid valve to move to the closed position. Upon deactivating the pump to stop supplying fluid to the manifold, a second pressure is determined in the supply line. Based on a difference between the first pressure and the second pressure, the solenoid valve is determined to be one of (a) at least partially open or (b) in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20230334914
Abstract: A computer is programmed to receive a plurality of first values for a respective plurality of variables transmitted over a communications network of a vehicle; determine a similarity measure between the first values and a plurality of second values of the variables; determine whether to transmit a collection of data transmitted over the communications network based on the similarity measure; and, upon so determining, transmit the collection of data to a server remote from the vehicle. The second values are a most similar set of values from an activation surface for a feature of the vehicle. The activation surface is a surface in a space defined by the variables dividing the space into regions in which activation of the feature is more or less likely than not, respectively, to have occurred when the variables have values in that region.

  • Publication number: 20230331226
Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for providing a vehicle occupant preparation system for certain acceleration modes. In an example method, sensor data associated with one or more sensors of the vehicle may be generated when a vehicle is in an acceleration mode. Subsequently, an orientation of an occupant in the vehicle relative to a seat or other structure within an interior of the vehicle may be determined using the sensor data. The orientation of the occupant may comprise at least a position of a head of the occupant or a direction the head of the occupant is facing. It may be determined that the orientation of the occupant is not within a predetermined orientation threshold. A notification associated with the orientation of the occupant may then be presented. In some instances, a performance parameter of the vehicle may be adjusted.

Abstract: Example embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to systems and methods to form a caravan of vehicles and take advantage of a slipstream formation that can provide benefits such as, for example, a reduction in fuel consumption for follower vehicles. In an example method, a first vehicle transmits a request to form a caravan with a second vehicle. The request may be originated by a slipstream driving arrangement system that can be a part of the first vehicle or provided in a personal communication device of a driver of the first vehicle. Upon receiving an acceptance of the request from a second vehicle, the first vehicle may execute a rendezvous operation to rendezvous with the second vehicle and execute a slipstream formation with the second vehicle. A financial incentive may be offered to either vehicle for operating as a lead vehicle of the caravan.
