Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include methods for generating a sampled profile including a plurality of sampling points having a plurality of characteristic values associated with the detected non-visible light, identifying one or more macroblocks each includes a subset of the plurality of sampling points, calculating a number of occurrences of the local pattern value within each subset of the plurality of the sampling points for each of the one or more macroblocks, generating a first array including a plurality of weighted values by calculating the plurality of weighted values based on the numbers of occurrences of the local pattern value and corresponding sizes of the one or more macroblocks, assigning a unique index to each of the plurality of weighted values, generating a second array of the unique index by ranking the plurality of weighted values, and generating a third array including a plurality of ranking distances.
Abstract: An electronic user device includes inclusion list storage with electronically readable memory, for storing an inclusion list and the inclusion list indicating included logical IDs. The device also has a security module app that receives a cellular broadcast message and extracts logical IDs therefrom. This processes a targeted cellular broadcast message embedded in the payload of the cellular broadcast message, based on whether a logical ID, also embedded in the payload, of the targeted cellular broadcast message is on the inclusion list. It then formats it for consumption by an electronic user device app that receives data via a data channel when available.

Abstract: Disclosed are gene edited ungulate animals and methods of editing genes that control various ungulate traits. Such methods include CRISPR, zinc fingers, or TALENS. Exemplary traits for editing include polled, sterility or fertility, milk production, growth (which increases meat production), fat production, conception rates, stillborn rates, calving ease, or content of produced milk such as the amount of protein or the amount of fat. Other traits include backfat thickness, intramuscular fat, ultrasound loin muscle area, loin muscle area and intramuscular fat content, chest circumference, withers height, body length, hip height, rump length, and heart girth. Other exemplary native traits include, but are not limited to, high altitude adaptation and response to hypoxia, cold acclimation, body size and stature, resistance to disease and bacterial infection, reproduction, milk yield and components, and feed efficiency.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives query content that includes first visual data and select reference content that includes second visual data. A first visual feature mapping for the query content is generated using a model that is trained to generate visual feature mappings using content pairs where alterations in one instance of the content pair are used in the training. A second visual feature mapping is determined for the reference content. The second visual feature mapping is determined using the model. The method compares the first visual feature mapping and the second visual feature mapping to generate a score that rates a similarity between the query content and the reference content. The score is based on recognizing an alteration in one instance of the query content and the reference content. The score is output.
Abstract: A method of correcting angles of a welding torch positioned by a user while training a robot of a robotic welding system is provided. Weldment depth data of a weldment and a corresponding weld seam is acquired and 3D point cloud data is generated. 3D plane and intersection data is generated from the 3D point cloud data, representing the weldment and weld seam. User-placed 3D torch position and orientation data for a recorded weld point along the weld seam is imported. A torch push angle and a torch work angle are calculated for the recorded weld point, with respect to the weldment and weld seam, based on the user-placed torch position and orientation data and the 3D plane and intersection data. The torch push angle and the torch work angle are corrected for the recorded weld point based on pre-stored ideal angles for the weld seam.
Abstract: Authenticating a mobile user device with a mobile network operator in advance of an MNO authentication request from the mobile user device can be done by a satellite network sending an authentication request to the MNO system, obtaining a set of authentication vectors related to the mobile user device, storing them into a proxy home location register, receiving the MNO authentication request from the mobile user device, generating an authentication request response based on the authentication vectors, sending the authentication request response to the mobile user device, receiving an authentication response including a received signed response, comparing the received signed response with the stored signed response, and if the received signed response and stored signed response match, deem that to be a successful authentication, add an MNO location update message to a request queue and forward the MNO location update message to the MNO system over the channel when available.

Abstract: A system and method for submerged arc welding. The system advances a consumable welding electrode toward a workpiece, and then stops the advancement when the consumable electrode makes contact with the workpiece. The system provides a preheating current level through the consumable welding electrode proximate the workpiece while the consumable welding electrode is in contact with the workpiece during a preheating period of time to preheat the portion of the consumable welding electrode without establishing an arc. The system then retracts the consumable welding electrode from the workpiece and increases the preheating current level to a welding current level over an arc establishment period of time to establish an arc between the consumable welding electrode and the workpiece. The system then begins to form a weld by advancing the consumable welding electrode toward the workpiece again, resulting in melting the consumable welding electrode and depositing molten metal onto the workpiece.

Abstract: Portable transdermal electrical stimulation (TES) applicators for modifying a subject's cognitive state by applying stimulation to the subject's skin. One or more electrode may be on the subject's mastoid, and/or on or near the back of the subject's neck. The portable applicators are configured and adapted to be lightweight and may be wearable, and to deliver a high-intensity TES able to evoke or enhance a predetermined cognitive effect to stimulate either the trigeminal, facial and/or cervical plexus. These TES applicators may include a pair of electrodes and a TES control module comprising a processor, a timer and a waveform generator.

Abstract: Nonwoven fabrics including a first outermost spunbond layer, a second outermost spunbond layer, and at least a first meltblown and/or melt-fibrillated layer disposed directly or indirectly between the first outermost spunbond layer and the second outermost spunbond layer. The first outermost spunbond layer comprises a first plurality of continuous fibers that are thermally fused and compacted against one another and define a microporous film on an outermost surface of the nonwoven fabric. The first plurality of continuous fibers comprises a first polymeric composition having a first melting point and the first meltblown layer and/or melt-fibrillated layer comprises a first plurality of meltblown fibers and/or melt-fibrillated fibers comprising a third polymeric composition having a third melting point, in which the first melting point is lower than the third melting point.

Abstract: A regulating valve device for a fluid cylinder includes a shut off valve having a ball tappet that actuates the shut off valve. A lever has a cam surface that interacts with the ball tappet as the lever is rotated to translate the ball tappet linearly and actuate the shut off valve. The lever is rotatable from a first valve closed position through a valve open position to a second valve closed position such that the valve open position is intermediate of the first and second valve closed positions. A pressure or flow regulating valve is downstream of the shut off valve. A handwheel is operatively connected to the pressure or flow regulating valve to adjust an outlet pressure of the pressure or flow regulating valve. The handwheel has an axis of operation that is offset from a longitudinal axis of the fluid cylinder by an acute angle.
