    Abstract: A method for forming a solid-state battery includes preparing a cell, heating the cell to a first temperature, and cycling the cell while maintaining the cell at the first temperature and/or while the cell is cooled to room temperature from the first temperature. The cell includes a solid-state electrolyte adjacent to a negative electrode, including a negative electroactive material selected from the group consisting of: lithium metal, lithium alloys, silicon, silicon alloys, and combinations thereof. The first temperature is between about 50° C. and about 175° C. The cell is cycled for between about 1 cycle and about 10 cycles, where current densities are between about 0.01 mA/cm2 and about 10 mA/cm2, and capacity per cycle between about 0.01 mAh/cm2 and about 1 mAh/cm2.

    Abstract: A method of forming a component includes providing a work-piece blank from a formable material. The work-piece blank includes at least one section having a surface roughness greater than 1 µm configured to facilitate efficient radiation of thermal energy therefrom when the work-piece blank is heated. The method also includes austenitizing the work-piece blank via heating the work-piece blank at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined amount of time to achieve an austenite microstructure in the at least one section and forestall oxidation of the work-piece blank. The method additionally includes transferring the austenitized work-piece blank into a forming press. The method also includes forming the component via the forming press from the austenitized work-piece blank. The method additionally includes quenching the component formed from the austenitized work-piece blank and cooling the formed component.

The method may further include contacting the prelithiated, precursor electrode with an electrolyte in the electrochemical cell, where the first lithium foil at least partially or fully dissolves when contacted by the electrolyte to form the electrode and a lithium reservoir in the electrochemical cell.

A single user can submit a request to the fleet management system to provide a ride for the group, the request specifying the number of passengers and the pickup location. The fleet management system determines a number of AVs to transport the group based on the number passengers, and dispatches this number of AVs to the pickup location. The AVs pick up the passengers at the pickup location, drive the passengers to a destination, and drop the passengers off at the destination.

    Abstract: A method of maintaining stability of a motor vehicle having a first axle, a second axle, and a steering actuator configured to steer the first axle includes determining localization and heading of the vehicle. The method also includes determining a current side-slip angle of the second axle and setting a maximum side-slip angle of the second axle using the friction coefficient at the vehicle and road surface interface. The method additionally includes predicting when the maximum side-slip angle would be exceeded using the localization, heading, and determined current side-slip angle as inputs to a linear computational model. The method also includes updating the model using the prediction of when the maximum side-slip angle would be exceeded to determine impending instability of the vehicle. Furthermore, the method includes correcting for the impending instability using the updated model and the maximum side-slip angle via modifying a steering angle of the first axle.
