Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for navigating a mobile platform in an environment. A processor obtains information about an object in the environment, obtains information about a first satellite, and estimates a probability indicator for a non-line of sight signal transmission between a current satellite location of the first satellite and a current location of the mobile platform using the information about the first satellite and the information about the object. The processor further determines a discrepancy indicator using a movement information of the mobile platform and a movement information of the first satellite such that a weighting indicator can be determined using the estimated probability indicator and the determined discrepancy indicator. The processor then assigns a weighting indicator to a satellite signal transmitted from the first satellite in order to provide a first weighted signal for navigating the mobile platform.
Abstract: A laser welded assembly and method of making. The laser welded assembly includes a first work piece having a thickness (T1) defined between an external surface and a faying surface; a second work piece having a thickness (T2) defined between an external surface and a faying surface of the second work piece; a weld seam having a core fusion zone extending from the external surface of the first work piece through the faying interface and at least partially into the thickness (T2) of the second work piece; and a protruding fusion zone extending laterally from the core fusion zone adjacent to the external surface of the first work piece. The protruding fusion zone may be formed by post-heating or concurrently with the core fusion zone.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring the structural integrity of a vehicle. In particular, systems and methods are provided for using transducers positioned at various location in and on a vehicle to measure parameters related vehicle structural health. In various implementations, the integrity of the vehicle frame and the integrity of the vehicle body are monitored using a multi-axis accelerometer and/or microphone. The use of transducers for monitoring can replace time-consuming and expensive manual inspections.
Abstract: A vehicle type database includes a plurality of vehicle type profiles. Each of the vehicle type profiles is associated with a vehicle type having a vehicle type specific aerodynamic profile and includes optimal following ranges associated with the vehicle type. Each of the optimal following distance ranges is based on the vehicle type specific aerodynamic profile of the vehicle type and a vehicle speed of the vehicle type wherein a trailing vehicle disposed in the optimal following range is configured to operate at an optimal fuel efficiency. A first optimal following distance range is identified based on a first vehicle type and a first vehicle speed using a first vehicle type profile associated with the first vehicle type. A command is issued to the AR vehicle HUD display system to display a graphical representation of the first optimal following distance to overlay an actual view of the road.

Abstract: A yaw stability control system is provided for a motor vehicle. The system includes one or more cameras, a plurality of wheel speed sensors, a yaw angle sensor, and a steering angle sensor. The system further includes an electric motor connected to a reaction wheel. The system further includes a processor and a memory including instructions such that the processor is programmed to: determine a desired yaw angle of the motor vehicle based on a video signal, speed signals, a yaw signal, and a steering signal. The processor is further programmed to generate an actuation signal associated with the desired yaw angle. The electric motor angularly rotates the reaction wheel at a predetermined angular rate in a predetermined rotational direction to produce a counter-acting torque that rotates the motor vehicle to the desired yaw angle, in response to the electric motor receiving the actuation signal from the processor.
Abstract: A cathode configured for use within a fuel cell system is provided. The cathode includes a cathode substrate. The cathode further includes a coating disposed upon the cathode substrate and including a fluorocarbon polymer additive configured for sintering at a temperature of less than 200° C. The fluorocarbon polymer additive may be mixed with a catalyst ink coating or may be applied separately as a topcoat layer.

Abstract: An apparatus for dilution of hydrogen concentration in a fuel cell exhaust system is provided. The apparatus includes a fuel cell exhaust line configured for receiving a flow of gas from a connected fuel cell and including a flow of hydrogen gas. The apparatus further includes a mixing chamber disposed to receive the flow of hydrogen gas and configured for mixing a flow of air with the flow of hydrogen gas. Abstract: Systems and methods for diagnosing health of a battery using in-vehicle impedance analysis. The method includes receiving a sensed current measurement for a cell of the battery; generating a current profile as a function of the sensed current measurement, including pulses to a peak current, the pulses having a pulse frequency (w); applying a current with the current profile to the cell; for each pulse in the current profile, receiving a voltage measurement for the cell that is responsive to the pulse, calculating an impedance for the cell responsive thereto, the impedance comprising a real component at the pulse frequency (RZw), and an imaginary component at the pulse frequency (IZw), identifying a battery health problem when either RZw exceeds a preprogrammed first threshold for the pulse frequency, or when IZw exceeds a preprogrammed second threshold for the pulse frequency, and storing the RZw and the IZw for the cell.

Abstract: Vehicles and methods for tracking an object and controlling a vehicle based on the tracked object. A Radar-Doppler (RD) map is received from the radar sensing system of the vehicle and relative acceleration of an object with respect to the vehicle is detected based on the RD map so as to provide acceleration data. A current frame of detected object data is received from a sensing system of the vehicle. When the relative acceleration has been detected, a tracking algorithm is adapted to reduce the influence of the predictive motion model or the historical state of the object and the object is tracked using the adapted tracking algorithm so as to provide adapted estimated object data based on the object tracking. One or more vehicle actuators are controlled based on the adapted estimated object data.
Abstract: A head-up display system for a vehicle includes at least one light source adapted to project an image upon an inner surface of a windshield of the vehicle, a driver monitoring system adapted to track a position of a driver's eyes, at least one non-visual sensor adapted to detect objects within an environment surrounding the vehicle, at least one image capturing device adapted to capture images of the environment surrounding the vehicle, and, a controller in communication with the at least one laser, the at least one non-visual sensor and the at least one image capturing device, the controller adapted to identify lane markers and objects within the environment surrounding the vehicle, determine the position of the vehicle within a lane of a roadway the vehicle is traveling upon, and, display, with the at least one light source, a lane position alert.
