Abstract: An insulated exhaust port liner of a cylinder head assembly for fluidly connecting to an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle includes a sealing layer. The sealing layer has a first surface defining a passage for fluidly connecting to the internal combustion engine and receiving exhaust gas. The sealing layer further includes a second surface opposite to the first surface. The liner further includes a thermal barrier layer coated onto the second surface of the sealing layer. The thermal barrier layer is a porous non-woven material for supporting the sealing layer on the cylinder head and reducing a transfer of heat from the sealing layer to the cylinder head.

Abstract: An insertion system includes an insertion device including a body defining a longitudinal axis, the body including a wall having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a cylindrical opening through the body, the body having a first body portion and a second body portion formed by separating the body along the longitudinal axis, an effector configured to interface with the insertion device, the effector having an effector body, a first mechanism coupled to the effector body and coupled to the first body portion of the insertion device, and a second mechanism coupled to the effector body and coupled to the second body portion of the insertion device, and an insertion mechanism coupled with the effector body. The insertion mechanism enables a force application at a position offset from the insertion device.

Abstract: An autonomous vehicle (AV) implements a health protocol that may reduce pathogen transmission between users of the AV. The AV is equipped with a thermal sensor that captures a body temperature of a user. The AV compares the user's temperature to a threshold temperature, and if the user's temperature exceeds the threshold temperature, the AV performs checks to ensure that the user's planned trip follows current regulations or recommendations. For example, the AV confirms that the user is traveling between the user's home and a healthcare facility. If the trip is permitted, the AV enables the user to enter the AV. The AV may include a disinfectant system for disinfecting the passenger compartment or surfaces after the user exits the AV.
Abstract: The subject disclosure relates to ways to improve route duration calculations e.g., estimated time of arrival (ETA) approximations, by taking consideration of reroute probabilities along a given vehicle path. In some aspects, the disclosed technology encompasses a process including steps for identifying a route between a first destination to a second destination, determining a reroute likelihood associated with at least one AV maneuver along the route, and calculating an estimated time of arrival (ETA) based on the reroute likelihood associated with at least one AV maneuver. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: An electronic door latching assembly for a side door of a vehicle is disclosed and includes a retaining member and an actuator. The actuator is operably connected to the retaining member and moves the retaining member between a primary position and an unlatched position. The electronic door latching assembly also includes a control module in electrical communication with the actuator. The control module executes instructions to: receive as input a power signal indicating that a loss of electrical power in the vehicle is imminent. After receiving the power signal, the control module receives a door open signal indicating that a door of the vehicle is being opened. In response to receiving the door open signal, the control module commands the actuator to rotate the retaining member from the unlatched position to the primary position where the side door is unable to latch shut.

Abstract: Systems and methods include transmitting transmit signals from transmit elements, and receiving reflections resulting from the transmit signals at receive elements. The reflections are processed to obtain range-Doppler maps. Each range-Doppler map corresponds with one combination of the transmit elements and the receive elements. The range-Doppler map includes complex values that indicate intensity over a set of range values and a set of relative velocity values. A synthetic matrix of synthetic vectors of array response combinations is generated for transmit angles and receive angles. Each array response combination is a combination of a transmit response for one of the transmit angles and a receive response for one of the receive angles. Two stages of detection are performed. A first stage identifies potential objects and a second stage eliminates the potential objects that are ghost objects. The potential objects remaining after the second stage are the real objects.
