  • Patent number: 5205769
Abstract: A method of making a press sealed lamp with an internally pressed fuse is disclosed. The filament structure is conveniently formed so the fuse links across a looped section of the initial filament structure. The loop structure provides strength to the fused filament structure prior to sealing. After the lamp is sealed, a portion of the exposed loop is trimmed, thereby limiting the remaining electrical connection to the path through the fuse.

  • Patent number: 5201853
Abstract: A connector assembly includes first and second housing having a normally open switch fixed between them. Means are formed on one of the housing for maintaining the switch in an open position. In the event of separation of the housings, spring action causes the arms of the switch to engage electrical contacts, closing a circuit and energizing a warning light. The device has applicability in automatic braking systems for automotive vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5200672
Abstract: An arrangement including an electrodeless discharge lamp having a sealed envelope enclosing an ionizable medium capable of emitting radiant energy when subjected to a radio frequency field and a circuit for operating the lamp. The circuit includes an oscillator for generating an output signal at a given radio frequency, an RF amplifier responsive to the oscillator output signal, and an output tank circuit including an induction coil and a capacitor connected in parallel. The RF amplifier includes a pair of semiconductor switches operating in a Class E mode. The induction coil is positioned in close physical proximity to the medium in the envelope for coupling to the medium an electric field having a magnitude sufficient to initiate ionization of the medium and a magnetic field for maintaining the ionization. In a preferred embodiment, the amount of EMI/RFI noise generated in the circuit is reduced by symmetrically driving the induction coil.

  • Patent number: 5197890
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly comprising a first body part having a first surface and a second surface normal thereto. The second surface contains a plurality of electrically conductive traces thereon in a particular spacing array. A first hinge half projects from the first surface. A flexible printed circuit board having a plurality of electrically conductive ribs in said particular spacing array is adjacent said second surface, said ribs being in contact with said traces. A second body part has a third surface and a fourth surface normal thereto, said third surface carrying a second hinge half in mating engagement with the first hinge half. The fourth surface carries a plurality of springs in substantially the same particular spacing array as the traces and ribs, each of the springs of the plurality of springs presenting a protuberant portion extending toward the flexible printed circuit board whereby a concavity exits on the side of said springs away from the flexible printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5197794
Abstract: A vehicle lamp aiming device is disclosed having an adjustment shaft with a first marking, and a mounting nut with a second marking. One of the other of the markings is formed on a clip firmly, but still adjustably mounted to either the shaft or nut as the case may be. Initial proper alignment of the adjustment shaft amy be made with respect to the mounting nut. The vehicle lamp is then in proper alignment. The adjustable marking clip is then moved to set the lamp calibration. A replacement lamp may then be brought into proper alignment by threading the adjustment shaft to align the alignment marks. By using a firm clip, subsequent, inadvertent resetting of the clip may be avoided.
