Abstract: A first flexible vessel of a first cross section communicates with the rod and a second flexible vessel of a second cross section, different from the first cross section communicates with the first vessel. A substantially incompressible fluid is contained in the first and second vessels. Movement of a heated rod against the first expansible vessel moves liquid to the second expansible vessel, the differing cross section ensuring that the longitudinal movement of the second vessel is different from that of the rod.
Abstract: Modified heat seal coatings are disclosed which impact improved heat seal jaw release characteristics to polypropylene fibers. These coatings are based on a partially neutralized terpolymer of vinylidene chloride, methyl methacrylate and acrylic acid.
Abstract: A linearally polarized multiport multimode feed for a reflector type antenna generates a plurality of beams, each in a different pointing direction, from a single radiating aperture. Each beam possesses a distinct phase center determined by the waveguide modes establishing the aperture distribution for that beam. The feed is linear and bilateral, therefore may be utilized in a receiving or transmitting antenna.

Abstract: Organic antimony compounds can be used to retard deactivation of urethane catalysts during storage of a B side formulation containing aromatic polyester polyols, used in the manufacture of rigid polyurethane foams.
Abstract: A compound of the general formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently are --H, --CH.sub.3, or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.3 ; and R.sub.3 is alkyl of from 1 to 10 carbons or aryl of from 6 to 10 carbons.
Abstract: Disclosed are polyester polyols prepared by esterifying tall oil with an excess of aromatic polyester polyols. The polyester polyols that are produced by this process are compatible with a trichlorofluoromethane blowing agent and are suitable for use in the manufacture of polyurethane and urethane-modified polyisocyanurate foams.
Abstract: Disclosed are hot melt compositions having good resistance to flow at temperatures up to 100.degree. C. The compositions are homogenous blends, which consist essentially of (1) an ethylene--mono-unsaturated ester copolymer having a melt index from 2 to about 20, or an ethylene terpolymer having a melt index of from about 6 to about 20; (2) a heat resistant polymer having a crystalline melting point greater than 109.degree. C.; (3) a tackifier resin having a Ring and Ball (R&B) softening point of from about 85.degree. C. to about 110.degree. C.; and (4) a hydrocarbon wax. When the tackifier resin has a R&B softening point of 100.degree. C. to about 110.degree. C., a naphthenic oil must also be added. The compositions may also contain a finely divided inorganic filler when used as an adhesive to produce pile fabrics or for backcoating the primary backing of a tufted carpet. The compositions are useful in the manufacture of carpets.
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for forming a paint marking on a roadway surface using a paint composition comprising (a) a paint vehicle comprising the reaction product of nitrocellulose, a polymeric hydroxyalkyl acrylate modifier, and an isocyanate resin as the binder, and a solvent, and (b) pigment in an amount sufficient to color the paint composition.
Abstract: A method and device for monitoring and evaluating structural stability of a multicomponent laminate body by use of a plurality of oriented sensor fingers, each of which comprises a supporting structure and sensing means secured thereto, the sensing means being capable of anchoring or securing, at one end, to one or more preselected components or subgroup of the laminate body with transversely arranged probing means endwise secured to a laterally movable linking member connected to a recording means for translating relative lateral movements between said components or subgroups under preset conditions into a mechanical or electronic record.
Abstract: A vehicle washing apparatus is provided in which two U-shaped frames suspend a rectangular frame in an overhead arrangement. In the rectangular frame is supported a piston and cylinder arrangement which controls the playing out of four lines which are guided by pulleys to a vertical attitude suspending an open frame adapted for being lowered and raised. In lowered position, the frame encircles a vehicle and sprays the same with water and a cleaning fluid. For this purpose, the frame is provided with inwardly directed nozzles which are accommodated in a channel provided in the open frame. The water and cleaning fluid are stored in two tanks connected to two pumps which are connected by two lines to the open frame and the nozzles therein. The piston and cylinder arrangement is operated by compressed air.
Abstract: A method of preparing a mixture composed principally of dicyclopentadiene which is caused to remain liquid at low temperatures by the presence of other cyclopentadiene oligomers.
Abstract: Tear strength of biaxially oriented polypropylene film is increased by laminating thereto a fibrous web of polypropylene fiber under conditions whereby the orientation of the film is retained.
Abstract: A high flash point cycloolefin composition, including at least 50% by weight dicyclopentadiene, the composition having a flash point of greater than 100.degree. F. and a viscosity of from about 3 cps to about 3000 cps at about 70.degree. F. and about 1 atmosphere pressure. The cycloolefin composition is used in a method of preparation of cycloolefin for polymerization by metathesis catalysis to form a substantially crosslinked thermoset polymer by: distilling the cycloolefin to form distilled cycloolefin, and contacting the distilled cycloolefin and an adsorbent.
Abstract: A rotary anti-scaling device comprises a pair of substantially identical halves connected together at a relative displacement of 180.degree. about a central transverse axis through the halves to form a unitary spike. Each half includes a central body portion with a central, transversely-extending bore therethrough permitting rotation of the unitary spike on an associated mounting bar, one or more projections extending from opposed ends of each body portion and at least one of the body portions having means formed thereon for co-operating with an adjacent spike to locate said spike in a position displaced angularly about its transverse axis relative thereto.
