Patent number: 6333955Abstract: To reduce the manufacturing processes of a control rod and shorten the time required for manufacturing a control rod, for the lower part support member 7, the thin parts 11A and 11B are formed in the neighborhood of each of the left and right sides of the window 8. In the left and right sides of the pull-up handle 9, the grooves 17A and 17B are formed respectively. The groove 17B is deeper than the groove 17A. The thin part 11A is fitted into the groove 17A and the thin part 11B is fitted into the groove 17B. The gap formed between the end of the thin part 11B and the bottom of the groove 17B is larger than the gap formed between the end of the thin part 11A and the bottom of the groove 17A. Therefore, the thin part 11A can be simply fitted into the groove 17A.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2000Date of Patent: December 25, 2001Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Norio Kawashima, Yasuyuki Gotoh, Yasuhiro Aizawa, Akira Koizumi, Kouichi Machida, Yoshiharu Kikuchi

Patent number: 6333881Abstract: One of the factors determining cycle time of an SRAM is recovery time of a bit line after writing. When the size of a precharge PMOS transistor is increased to shorten the recovery time, delay time which is caused by making the precharge PMOS transistors non-conductive at the time of read operation, that is, access time increases. To avoid this, a semiconductor memory is provided with a second precharge circuit in addition to the conventional bit line precharge circuit. The second precharge circuit operates upon detection of completion of writing and stops operation when it detects that the bit line is precharged to a high potential. Consequently, the recovery time after write operation is shortened and the cycle time is reduced without increasing the access time.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2000Date of Patent: December 25, 2001Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takeshi Kusunoki, Fumihiko Arakawa, Hiroaki Nambu, Kazuo Kanetani, Kaname Yamasaki

Patent number: 5956263Abstract: A multiplication, division and square root extraction apparatus which calculates the solutions to addition, division and square root extraction functions by approximation using iteration has a multiplier, an adder-subtracter and a shifter of prescribed bit width connected to a bus. Iteration is conducted by inputting the output of the multiplier to the adder-subtracter or the shifter and returning the result to the input of the multiplier via the bus. A shifter and an arithmetic and logic unit connected to a second bus connected to the aforesaid bus via a switch have a greater bit width than the prescribed bit width and are used for large scale calculations, thus preventing a reduction in processing speed.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1997Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masahisa Narita, Hisashi Kaziwara, Takeshi Asai, Shigeki Morinaga, Hiroyuki Kida, Mitsuru Watabe, Tetsuaki Nakamikawa, Shunpei Kawasaki, Junichi Tatezaki, Norio Nakagawa, Yugo Kashiwagi

Patent number: 5787139Abstract: In a fuel loading method of the present invention, a nuclear reactor is operated up to the second cycle without exchanging the fuel. Low-enrichment fuel is discharged from a core at the end of the second cycle and at the end of the third cycle. Moreover, high-enrichment fuel with an average enrichment higher than that of replacement fuel is discharged from the core at the end of the third cycle and reloaded into the core at the end of the fifth cycle.According to the present invention, because the high-enrichment fuel discharged from the core at the end of the third cycle normally has a high enrichment, a short combustion period, and a low burnup compared to the replacement fuel burned for 4 to 5 cycles, a lot of fissionable material are left in the high-enrichment fuel. By reloading the high-enrichment fuel to the core after one cycle or more passes, it is possible to greatly increase the discharge exposure of initially loaded fuel.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1997Date of Patent: July 28, 1998Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Mitsunari Nakamura, Katsumasa Haikawa, Akihiro Yamanaka, Akiko Kanda, Takaaki Mochida, Junichi Yamashita, Shigetada Tanabe, Shinichi Kirihara
