Abstract: A package for a flat, generally rectangular item includes a first, inner wrapper folded about the two large faces and the two side faces and having a longitudinal sealing seam extending on one of the large faces generally parallel to the side faces, and opposite transverse sealing seams at opposite end faces extending parallel thereto. The longitudinal sealing seam and the transverse sealing seams are all fin seams. The longitudinal sealing seam extends approximately centrally on the large face, and the two transverse fin seams are folded onto the large face which contains the longitudinal fin seam. There is provided a second, outer wrapper surrounding solely the large faces and the side faces and holding the fin seams folded against the large face.

Abstract: In an industrial, agricultural, or earth-moving vehicle, a charging pump, which delivers hydraulic fluid under pressure remaining substantially constant while the vehicle is operating and a coupler are combined. In the coupler, a hydraulically actuated piston-cylinder mechanism is used to wedge a pin into an orifice in an implement, thereby to couple the implement to the vehicle, and to withdraw the pin, thereby to uncouple the implement from the vehicle. A directional valve, which is connected between the pump and the piston-cylinder mechanism, is switchable by an operator of the vehicle between a first stage wherein the directional valve allows hydraulic fluid delivered by the pump to actuate the piston-cylinder mechanism in a forward direction, thereby to wedge the pin into the orifice, and a second stage wherein the directional valve allows hydraulic fluid delivered by the pump to actuate the piston-cylinder mechanism in a reverse direction, thereby to withdraw the pin.

The toughener has a particle size of less than about 360 nm, as determined by a small angle x-ray scattering technique. The toughener is present in the resin in the amount of at least 15% by weight.

Abstract: Highly soluble, optically transparent aromatic polyimides of the following formula are disclosed: ##STR1## where --X and --X.sub.1 are independently primary or secondary alkyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms,--X is different than --X.sub.1,--Y is independently --H, or --Z,--Z is independently --Cl, --Br or --I,r=0-100% of r+t, ands=100%t=100% -r of r+t are disclosed.
Abstract: Silver particles, which have been treated with an ionic surfactant and thus contain adsorbed ions derived from the surfactant, are de-ionized by exchanging the adsorbed ions with a non-ionic surfactant.
Abstract: A method of measuring the distance between two objects and/or the speed of one object in relation to the other, the objects incorporating respectively a transmitter-receiver unit and a transponder or reflector, in which method a phase comparison is made between a signal transmitted by the transmitter-receiver unit and a signal received in the transmitter-receiver unit and transmitted from the transponder or reflector. In accordance with the invention the transmitter-receiver unit is caused to transmit signals of microwave frequency, preferably about 2450 MHz, this transmission comprising the transmission of a first signal having a first frequency, the transmission of at least one second signal having a higher or lower frequency, and the transmission of a third signal having the same frequency as the first mentioned signal, wherewith the phase differences .phi.

Abstract: A process for uniformly measuring the performance characteristic of a computer peripheral by accommodating for variations in the clock rate of the host computer system is disclosed, where after connecting the target to the host and initializing the system automatically calibrates itself to the clock rate of the host and determines the parameters of the target. The user may then define a select test, a set of test, or a continuous set of tests to be run on the target. In performing the selected test or tests, the system determines the amount of overhead time associated with the host and target, and the data transfer time, before determining the various base access times of the target. Upon the determination of a base access time, the host overhead time is then removed to yield an accurate access time measurement that is independent of variable characteristics of the host computer system.
Abstract: Intravenous infusion sets suitable for the parenteral administration of nitroglycerin solutions and methods of using such sets are provided. The intravenous infusion sets and methods herein utilize flexible drip tubes having their inner surfaces constructed of polyolefin plastic material. Polyolefin or polyolefin-lined drip tubes can be advantageously used to infuse nitroglycerin solutions with minimized loss of nitroglycerin solution potency.

Abstract: A plating bath and process for electroplating coatings of palladium nickel alloys on a conductive substrate at current densities in the range of 10 amps/sq. ft. to 150 amps/sq. ft. wherein the palladium content of the alloy remains substantially constant despite current density variations during plating. The alloy composition stability is achieved by adding at least about 15 parts per million of iodide and/or iodate ions to the plating bath. The as-plated alloy has a thin surface layer which contains iodide at or near the surface.
Abstract: A composition for making low K dielectric layers which is an admixture of finely divided solids consisting essentially of (a) lead-free amorphous borosilicate glass containing Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, a mixture of oxides of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals or mixtures thereof containing Li.sub.2 O, and (b) a ceramic filler selected from mullite, mixtures of mullite with fused silica and mixtures of quartz with fused silica.
Abstract: Hydroxyacetic acid condensation product is used as a fluid loss material in a formation fracturing process in which a fracturing fluid comprising a hydrolyzable aqueous gel is used. The hydroxyacetic acid condensation product degrades at formation conditions to provide hydroxyacetic acid which breaks the aqueous gel, which provides restored formation permeability without the need for separate addition of gel breaker.
