Abstract: Continuous strands of color concentrate are metered into the feed zone of a screw-melter polymer extruder where they are cut into pellets by the shearing action of the flights of a rotating screw against the extruder housing. These pellets are mixed within the extruder with a thermoplastic polymer to be colored and this mixture is then melted and extruded into a useful article, for example, a fiber for textile or carpeting end-use.Additionally, color concentrates can be first formed into continuous strands and stored conveniently on a spool for subsequent metering into the polymer extruder.
Abstract: A transfer device and method of its use for an electrostatic imaging system using liquid toner capable of generating images having very high resolution at fast speeds. The station includes three sections, an electrically biased tack down roller, a transfer corona station and a transfer medium separator. These sections are located to prevent the onset of turbulence in the liquid toner.

Abstract: An improved vertical service door for a tractor engine housing of the vertically-hinged horizontally swingable type. The vertical service door has a lower panel hinged to the lower edge of an upper panel, and means to support the lower panel in a horizontal position when the door is open so that it may serve as a tool tray during engine service. Some preferred embodiments include an inwardly-turned edge forming a vertical retaining edge for the tray and a rod/J-slot linkage between the upper and lower panels to support the lower panel in its horizontal position.
Abstract: A composition for making low K dielectric layers which is an admixture of finely divided solids consisting essentially of (a) lead-free amorphous borosilicate glass containing Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, a mixture of oxides of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals or mixtures thereof containing Li.sub.2 O and (b) an inorganic filler selected from quartz and mixtures of quartz with 0.5-5% wt. inert oxides having a TCE equal to or greater than 7.
Abstract: This invention relates to highly attrition resistant catalysts, catalyst precursors and catalyst supports and to processes for making and using them.
Abstract: There are disclosed an improved process for preparing lymphokine activated killer (LAK) cells from peripheral blood mononuclear cells, a composition consisting essentially of the LAK cells prepared from the disclosed process in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and a method of treating cancer comprising administering the disclosed composition to a patient suffering from said cancer.
Abstract: A lid structure is formed of conjoined upper and lower sheets of material. One of the sheets has a receptacle formed therein which receives an elastomeric pad. The portion of the conjoined first and second sheets form a sealing flange which completely surrounds the periphery of the receptacle and which provides a surface whereby the lid may be secured to a container.
Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing TiO.sub.2 pigment which is substantially improved for use in electrophoretic coating compositions. The process comprises adjusting an aqueous slurry of the pigment to a pH of about 6.5-7.5, maintaining such pH at a temperature and for a time which is sufficient to maintain substantial equilibrium, and washing the pigment. There also is disclosed TiO.sub.2 pigment which is produced by the foregoing process.
Abstract: This invention involves unique compositions consisting of substrates coated with organo-silanes that are sterically protected by a single bulky group. This material consists of an appropriate reactive solid to which is attached a silane whose silicon stom is bonded to a functional group that contains a dimethyl-substituted tertiary carbon.
Abstract: An improvement in a process for neutralizing perfluorinated carboxylic acids to make fluorocarbon polyethers in which the acid is heated with fluorine in the presence of a metal fluoride.
Abstract: Novel N-(heterocyclicaminocarbonyl) substituted thiophene- , furan- and pyrrolesulfonamides, such as N-[(4-methoxy-6-methylpyrimidin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl]-6,7-dihydro-5H-thieno- [3,2-b]thiopyran-3-sulfonamide. 4,4-dioxide and N-[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl]-6,7-dihydro-5H-thieno[3,2-b ]thiopyran-3-sulfonamide, 4,4-dioxide and their method-of-use as herbicides are described.
Abstract: A process for producing anhydrous sodium cyanide crystals by absorbing hydrogen cyanide synthesis gas that contains oxides of carbon and water in aqueous sodium hydroxide and crystallizing the sodium cyanide solution that results from the absorption. The sodium carbonate that forms in the absorption is not removed prior to crystallization.

Abstract: A plating bath and process for electroplating coatings of palladium nickel alloys on a conductive substrate at current densities in the range of 10 amps/sq. ft. to 150 amps/sq. ft. wherein the palladium content of the alloy remains substantially constant despite current density variations during plating. The alloy composition stability is achieved by adding at least about 15 parts per million of iodate ions to the plating bath.
Abstract: An electrical connector comprising a header with a plurality of terminal pins having means for retaining the header in position during soldering to a printed circuit board. Retention is accomplished by an offset formed as a crimp at the insertion end of at least one pair of terminals. The crimps exert opposite normal forces against one surface of their respective holes to retain the header during soldering.
