Abstract: Protective cases and case systems for a mobile device are disclosed. The cases include a multi component structure that defines a compartment that is dimensioned to receive a mobile device and includes one or more shock absorber elements embedded within its side walls. The multi-component construct may be configured as a standalone case or sleeve that reversibly fits within another external component or shell. The shock absorber element may be formed in multiple segments and may be formed of a softer material than adjacent regions of the case and co-molded into a channel in a supporting wall component that is formed of a more rigid material. The shock absorber component may have one or more channels formed in its outer surface and may extend internally into the device compartment to form relatively soft corner pads or cushions. When a shell is employed additional level of protection to the mobile device may be provided.

Abstract: A protective case for a mobile device is disclosed. The protective case includes a front cover, a back cover, and a relatively rigid shell. The front cover includes multiple fold lines that extend across the cover and allow adjacent regions of the cover to rotate or move relative to each other. The shell is configured to receive and retain the mobile device while providing user access to the mobile device. The shell has an outer surface configured to include a latch with an integrated hook. In operation, the latch hooks and retains one end section of the front cover to maintain the device in an angled use position when open. When in the fully closed position the latch fits within an aperture defined within a back end region of the front cover. Magnets incorporated into the front cover assist in maintaining the case in the fully closed position.

Abstract: A protective case for a mobile device such as a tablet computer is disclosed that includes modular components that can be mixed and matched by the user at the point of purchase to facilitate creation of a user customizable look. The case includes a shell that is configured to retain the tablet device and a front cover that is configured to protect and conceal the screen of the tablet when the case is in the closed position. When the assembled case is in the open position and the tablet is retained within the shell, the cover is configured to stand the shell up on edge. The shell and front cover can be reversibly attached to one another by the user, so that the user can select a shell of one color, material, design, or style and a front cover of another color, material, design or style. Retention tab and slot are employed to reversibly lock the front cover to the shell to form a seamless integrated multi use mode case.

The protective case includes a main body and a detachable panel configured to cover an aperture through the shell of the protective case providing access to the storage compartment via a hinged connection. The shell, panel, and front are secured to flexible layers, which allow the case to function as independent pivot stands that can position the case in one or more operating/viewing positions.

Abstract: A portable charging system having a battery bank that may be used with a charging dock is disclosed. The battery bank has an integrated charging cable that is configured to wrap around two sides of the battery bank to form a storage mode and to unwrap to form a free-floating cable mode.

Abstract: A mobile device case or cover can include a display module that can display notifications or other useful data to users. The display module can communicate wirelessly with the mobile device to obtain notifications. In addition, in some embodiments, the display module can communicate with a secondary mobile device (such as a phone in a user's pocket) to obtain notifications or other data.

Abstract: A protective case for a portable mobile device is disclosed. The protective case comprises a shell that defines a compartment for receiving and retaining a mobile device, a cover panel, and a connector component. The shell has a main panel that includes an aperture and a subpanel that is hinged at a first side within the aperture and reversibly attached to the aperture via mechanical protrusions or detents at a second side so that it can rotatably attach and detach, or snap, into and out of the main panel. The hinge may be formed by one or more flexible layers overlaid on the shell or via mechanical swivel joint such as a pin and socket connection. A connector portion connects the cover panel to the shell and forms a flexible spine between the cover panel and the shell. The connector portion is comprised of opposing inner and outer layers that are overlaid over the internal and external facing surfaces of the shell and cover panel.

Abstract: A mobile device auxiliary battery is disclosed. The mobile device auxiliary battery can supply electric current to the mobile device. A processing device associated with the auxiliary battery may be wirelessly connected to the mobile device, such as with a Bluetooth interface, and thereby control operational aspects of the battery, including for example control over supplying power to the mobile device. The auxiliary battery may be part of a charging system or kit that includes a uniquely designed separate charger or part of a protective case. In yet another aspect, the protective case may include unitary bumper flexible bumper co-molded to the body of the case and a male connector extending from a nested portion that is adapted to tilt outward from the case to facilitate insertion of the corresponding female port on the mobile device into the connector and into the case.

Abstract: A protective case for a tablet device having a back face and a front face, a touchscreen on its front face, and one or more control buttons and ports on its perimeter walls. The case comprises a shell having front and back sides wherein the front side is configured to receive and retain the tablet device while providing user access to the touchscreen and user access to one or more of the control buttons, said shell including a back wall that is configured to cover at least a portion of the back face of the tablet. The protective case further includes a front cover that includes a tray, a wireless keyboard and keyboard housing. The tray includes opposing side rails and the keyboard housing includes opposing grooves on opposing side walls that are concealed and configured to engage the rails to allow the keyboard housing to slide in and out from the tray in a defined manner. The tray, keyboard and shell may each include magnets to facilitate the positioning of the case in the various open and closed positions.

Abstract: A protective case for a mobile device having a molded multi-layered construction is disclosed. The case includes a mobile device cavity that is configured to receive and retain the mobile device and a storage cavity that extends internally from an upper portion of the case to a lower portion of the case. The lower and upper portions of the case are hinged to one another to facilitate access to the storage compartment. The exterior back surface of the case is configured to conceal the existence of the storage compartment. Abstract: A light bulb adapter is disclosed. The light bulb adapter has a main housing configured to house electronic circuits for wirelessly receiving controlling commands via WiFi from a user through the use of a software application installed in a mobile device. In operation, the user unplug a light bulb from an existing lighting fixture and plugs the light bulb plug of the light bulb adapter into the lighting fixture. A light bulb is inserted to the light bulb receptacle of the light bulb adapter. The user can connect a mobile device to the light bulb adapter over a wireless local area network via an accessory protocol and control the light bulb adapter, and subsequently the light bulb connected to it, using the accessory protocol.

The multi-layered construction includes two layers co-molded to one another and produces a lightweight and low-profile case providing a high level of impact protection. The first layer generally forms the internal rigid shell of the case, and the second layer forms the external soft shell of the case which may include a perforated pattern of holes. The first layer is comprised of material that has a hardness greater than the second layer. The layers are configured to interact with one another so that they are capable of distributing and absorbing impact forces to mitigate damage to the mobile device. The first layer includes apertures in which the second layer forms buttons corresponding to mobile device user controls. The second layer also bonds through attachment openings at the corners of the first layer.

Abstract: A retail product package is disclosed. The package comprises an outer sleeve and an inner tray that is configured to slide in and out of the sleeve. The sleeve and tray being constructed and configured to be magnetically attracted to one another to facilitate and maintain a closed packaging configuration. Windows on the sleeve and tray allow for inspection of the product contained therein, which is mounted via a support element in a fixed position removed from contact from the packaging walls. A hook component is provided on the tray that is configured to extend through a top end wall of the sleeve and facilitate display of the package on a peg in a retail display stand.

Abstract: An improved battery case adapted to removably receive, protect and provide power to a mobile device is provided. The case includes a base configured to house a rechargeable battery, a user detachable back face cover capable of providing aesthetic modularity to the consumer and manufacturing advantages, and a bumper that is constructed to include a rigid inner frame or skeleton that includes an outwardly extending rib that is molded on either side with an outer softer and more elastic layer that extends over the face of the mobile device. The bumper can be molded as an integral part of the case or be removably attached to the a component of the case.

Abstract: A mobile device case or cover can include a distance marker for distance measurement. A mobile device coupled with the case may include a measurement application or module that can acquire video or still images of the distance marker. The measurement application can calculate a distance to the distance marker based on a captured image of the distance marker in the video or still images. The mobile device case can include a pocket, slot, or storage compartment for storing the distance marker.

Abstract: A protective case can be used with a mobile device having front and back surfaces and side surfaces extending between the front and back surfaces, including a top side, a bottom side, a right side, and a left side, the mobile device having a screen on the front surface.
