    Abstract: A system and method for optimal allocation of agricultural water based on water consumption control are provided. The system includes a data management module, configured to store and manage data related to water allocation; a basic data statistics module, configured to take statistics on various stored data; an agricultural evapotranspiration (ET) calculation module, configured to calculate an agricultural ET based on the stored data and statistical data; and a water resource allocation module, configured to generate a corresponding water resource allocation scheme based on an agricultural ET of each water consumption unit and corresponding data. Surface water and groundwater are jointly allocated to reduce groundwater exploitation, increase groundwater recharge, reduce invalid water loss and consumption in a carrying and allocation process, and improve an output benefit of agricultural water supply.

    Abstract: Intelligent control of solar transmission through windows promises to reduce energy consumption for thermal comfort in buildings. However, the ability of current smart windows to regulate solar gain based on tunable extinction of phase-change materials is not optimum. A thin-film thermochromic device based on tunable light scattering of hydrogel microparticles of prescribed diameters is reported. In the study, poly (N-isopropylacrylamide)-2-Aminoethylmethacrylate hydrochloride (pNIPAm-AEMA) microparticles are synthesized, with low phase transition temperature ˜32° C. Notably, the average size of pNIPAm-AEMA particles can vary from 1388 nm at 25° C. to 546 nm at 35° C., leading to unprecedented infrared transmittance modulation of 75.6%, in agreement with the numerical simulation based on Mie theory. A high luminous transmittance of 87.2% is accomplished.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates to the use of “pseudo-images” to perform image recognition, e.g., to perform facial image recognition. In an embodiment, the pseudo-image is obtained by starting with a real world image and, after optional preprocessing, subjecting the image to a non-linear transformation that converts the image into a pseudo-image. While real world objects (or, more generally, real world patterns) may be perceivable in the starting image, they cannot be perceived in the pseudo-image. Image recognition takes place by comparing the pseudo-image with a library of known pseudo-images, i.e., image recognition takes place in pseudo-image space without a return to real world space. In this way, robust image recognition is achieved even for imperfect real world images, such as, real world images that have been degraded by noise, poor illumination, uneven lighting, and/or occlusion, e.g., the presence of glasses, scarves, or the like in the case of facial images.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the technical field of microstructure refinement and homogenization of bearing steel, and specifically relates to a high-carbon bearing steel and a method of preparing same. The high-carbon bearing steel of the invention has the following chemical composition: C: 0.80˜1.20 wt %, Cr: 0.40˜2.0 wt %, Mn: 0.15˜0.75 wt %, Si: 0.15˜0.75 wt %, Nb: 0˜0.20 wt %, Mo: 0˜0.20 wt %, V: 0˜0.20 wt %, P?0.015 wt %, S?0.01 wt %, the remaining is Fe and unavoidable impurities; the contents of Nb, Mo and V are not 0 at the same time. According to the invention, microalloying elements such as Nb, Mo and V, in combination with other elements, are added into the high-carbon bearing steel to effectively refine the bearing steel matrix and promote the precipitation of a large amount of nano-carbides, thereby enhancing the contact fatigue life of the high-carbon bearing steel.
