Abstract: A modular apparatus is configured to cause received rods of smokeable material to undergo a first sequence of operations. The modular apparatus can be reconfigured so as to cause received rods of smokeable material to undergo a second sequence of operations, different to the first sequence of operations. The first and second sequences of operations respectively form at least part of first and second processes for assembling smoking articles, each smoking article comprising one of said rods of smokeable material, which is smoked in use.

Abstract: Disclosed is a fault current controller for a direct current power grid, which includes a primary circuit and a controller. The primary circuit includes an inductor, a filter capacitor, a resistor, an IGBT switch, a diode, a contactor and a Hall current sensor. The inductor, a first resistor and a second contactor are connected in series and are connected to a first contactor in parallel. A first branch including a second resistor and a first diode, a second branch including a third resistor and a second diode, and the inductor are connected in parallel; the filter capacitor, the IGBT switch and the first resistor are connected in parallel. The Hall current sensor is arranged in the series circuit. The controller controls the IGBT switch and the two contactors in the primary circuit to form different on-off combinations.

Abstract: Chiral acetyl-protected aminoethyl quinoline (APAQ), pyridine and imazoline ligands are disclosed that enable Pd (II)-catalyzed enantioselective arylation or heteroarylation of ubiquitous prochiral ?-methylene C—H bonds of aliphatic amides offers an alternative disconnection for constructing ?-chiral centers. Systematic tuning of the ligand structure reveals that a six-membered instead of a five-membered chelation of these types of ligands with the Pd(II) is important for accelerating the C(sp3)-H activation thereby achieving enantioselectivity for quinoline and pyridine ligands.
Abstract: A NEMS readout system includes a sensor array comprising a plurality of sensors. Each sensor of the plurality of sensors including a resonator with frequency characteristics different from the resonator of each other sensor of the plurality of sensors. A readout signal indicative of a plurality of output signals is collected from the sensor array. Each output signal of the plurality of output signals corresponding to one of the plurality of sensors. An analysis of the plurality of output signals is performed to identify a plurality of resonant frequencies and to detect a frequency shift associated with at least one of the plurality of resonant frequencies.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a molecular clock includes a waveguide gas cell containing gas molecules having a rotational spectral line with a first frequency a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) to generate a clock signal, a transmitter referenced to the clock signal to generate a probing signal for transmission through the waveguide gas cell, and a receiver to receive the probing signal transmitted through the waveguide gas cell and interacting with gas molecules. The receiver can include a filter circuit configured to filter out even harmonic components from the received signal and can further include a lock-in detector to generate an error signal indicating an offset between the first frequency and the second frequency. The error signal is fed back to control generation of the VCO clock signal.
Abstract: The invention regards a method and system for recording observation data without violating privacy. Environment is sensed and observation data including information on the sensed environment is generated. The observation data is processed for determining presence of one or more persons in the sensed environment. Those person(s) amongst the present person(s) that did not agree to store their private data are identified and privacy compliant observation data is generated by obfuscating the private data of these persons. The privacy compliant observation data is store for later use.
