  • Patent number: 9587927
Abstract: A high speed high resolution heterodyne interferometric method and system are provided. The invention uses two spatially separated beams with slightly different frequencies and has two measurement signals with opposite Doppler shift. The switching circuit selects one of the two measurement signals for displacement measurement according to the direction and speed of the target movement. In this invention, the measurement is insensitive to the thermal variation; the periodic nonlinearity is essentially eliminated by using two spatially separated beams; the measurable target speed of the interferometer is no longer limited by the beat frequency of the laser source.

  • Patent number: 9590138
Abstract: A GaN based LED epitaxial structure and a method for manufacturing the same. The GaN based LED epitaxial structure may include: a substrate; and a GaN based LED epitaxial structure grown on the substrate, wherein the substrate is a substrate containing a photoluminescence fluorescent material. The photoelectric efficiency of the LED epitaxial structure is enhanced and the amount of heat generated from a device is reduced by utilizing a rare earth element doped Re3Al5O12 substrate; since the LED epitaxial structure takes a fluorescence material as a substrate, a direct white light emission may be implemented by such an LED chip manufactured by the epitaxial structure, so as to simplify the manufacturing procedure of the white light LED light source and to reduce production cost. The defect density of the epitaxial structure is reduced by firstly epitaxial growing, patterning the substrate and then laterally growing a GaN based epitaxial structure.

  • Patent number: 9585666
Abstract: A nerve guidance conduit includes a spiral structured porous sheet decorated with channels on its surface and electrospun nanofibers in a parallel alignment with the channels and an outer tubular structure including randomly-oriented nanofibers. Such a structure provides augmented surface areas for providing directional guidance and augmented surfaces for enhancing and peripheral nerve regeneration. The structure also has the mechanical and nutrient transport requirements required over long regeneration periods. To prepare a nerve guidance conduit, porous polymer sheet is prepared by a solvent casting method while using a template of thin rods to form parallel channels on a surface of the sheet. Aligned nanofibers are deposited on the sheet parallel to the channels. The polymer sheet is then wound to form a spiral structure. A dense layer of randomly-oriented nanofibers may be deposited on the outside of the spiral.

  • Patent number: 9589765
Abstract: When injection of electrons into a sample supporting member causes a potential gradient between an insulative thin film and a conductive thin film at a site of electron beam injection, the potential barrier of the surface of the insulative thin film becomes thin, and an electron emission phenomenon is caused by tunnel effects. Secondary electrons caused in the insulative thin film tunnel to the conductive thin film along the potential gradient. The secondary electrons, having tunneled, reach a sample while diffusing in the conductive thin film. In the case where the sample is a sample with a high electron transmittance, such as a biological sample, the secondary electrons also tunnel through the interior of the sample. The secondary electrons are detected to acquire an SEM image in which the inner structure of the sample is reflected.
