Abstract: We have discovered that administering anti-ceramide antibody treats and prevents an array of diseases mediated by cytolytic T lymphocyte (CTLs)-induced killing and by damage to endothelial microvasculture, including radiation-induced GI syndrome, Graft vs. Host diseases, inflammatory diseases and autoimmune diseases. We have also discovered new anti-ceramide monoclonal antibodies, that have therapeutic use preferably in humanized form to treat or prevent these diseases.

Abstract: A coating method for coating a crucible and a quartz crucible for growing a silicon crystal are provided. In the coating method, a bubble-free quartz layer which is 80 ?m to 4 mm thick is formed on an inner surface of a crucible for growing a silicon crystal, and the surface of the bubble-free quartz layer is covered with alkaline earth hydroxide, following which heating is performed to a temperature at which the surface becomes devitrified. The surface may be covered by immersing the inner surface in a solution of the alkaline earth hydroxide. The heating may be performed before the crucible for growing silicon crystal is filled with a solid raw material to be melted.

Abstract: Electronic communications can be normalized using a neural network. For example, a noncanonical communication that includes multiple terms can be received. The noncanonical communication can be preprocessed by (I) generating a vector including multiple characters from a term of the multiple terms; and (II) repeating a substring of the term in the vector such that a last character of the substring is positioned in a last position in the vector. The vector can be transmitted to a neural network configured to receive the vector and generate multiple probabilities based on the vector. A normalized version of the noncanonical communication can be determined using one or more of the multiple probabilities generated by the neural network. Whether the normalized version of the noncanonical communication should be outputted can also be determined using at least one of the multiple probabilities generated by the neural network.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses an ?-alumina carrier, comprising the elements of lanthanum and silicon both dispersed in the interior and on the surface of the carrier. The mass ratio of the element of lanthanum to the element of silicon is in the range from 0.1:1 to 20:1. The inventors of the present disclosure have made extensive researches into the field of the silver catalyst and alumina carrier thereof, and added the elements of lanthanum and silicon (i.e., bulk phase addition) in preparing the alumina carrier used in the silver catalyst. The carrier thus obtained contains the elements of silicon and lanthanum both in the interior and on the surface thereof, and has improved specific surface area and strength. The silver catalyst prepared with the carrier can react in a low reaction temperature (has a high reaction activity) and has a high selectivity in producing ethylene oxide through oxidation of ethylene.

Abstract: A non-contact adjustable hysteretic magnetic encoder includes a bipolar magnetic block, two magnetic sensing components, a storage, and a controller. After retrieving the current rotation angle by accessing a rotation angle table, the controller determines, by an encoding rule, digital logical values of a first phase signal (A-phase signal) and digital logical values of a second phase signal (B-phase signal) and outputs the digital logical values. The phase difference between a first phase signal and a second phase signal is adjusted, and a hysteresis range, also known as hysteresis angle, is adjusted, according to the grids attributed to the predetermined number of grids before the turning point and the grids attributed to the predetermined number of grids after the turning point. Hence, the non-contact adjustable hysteretic magnetic encoder features enhanced potential of expansion and marked industrial practicability.
