  • Patent number: 9525191
Abstract: Electrolytes for Mg-based energy storage devices can be formed from non-nucleophilic Mg2+ sources to provide outstanding electrochemical performance and improved electrophilic susceptibility compared to electrolytes employing nucleophilic sources. The instant electrolytes are characterized by high oxidation stability (up to 3.4 V vs Mg), improved electrophile compatibility and electrochemical reversibility (up to 100% coulombic efficiency). Synthesis of the Mg2+ electrolytes utilizes inexpensive and safe magnesium dihalides as non-nucleophilic Mg2+ sources in combination with Lewis acids, MRaX3-a (for 3?a?1). Furthermore, addition of free-halide-anion donors can improve the coulombic efficiency of Mg electrolytes from nucleophilic or non-nucleophilic Mg2+ sources.

  • Patent number: 9525507
Abstract: A method of tuning a wavelength in a TWDM-PON which has a plurality of operable channels is provided. First, a second channel is added as an operating channel of the TWDM-PON in which at least a first channel is working, and then an OLT that is providing a service to an ONU through the first channel requests the ONU to tune to the second channel. In response to receiving the request, the ONU determines whether a downstream wavelength of the second channel has been recorded thereon. According to the determination result, the ONU sends to the OLT an ACK message that indicates that the ONU is able to perform wavelength tuning and then commences wavelength tuning to the second channel, or the ONU sends to the OLT a NACK message that indicates that the ONU is unable to perform wavelength tuning.

  • Patent number: 9523152
Abstract: A metallic-dielectric photonic crystal is formed with a periodic structure defining a plurality of resonant cavities to selectively absorb incident radiation. A metal layer is deposited on the inner surfaces of the resonant cavities and a dielectric material fills inside the resonant cavities. This photonic crystal can be used to selectively absorb broadband solar radiation and then reemit absorbed radiation in a wavelength band that matches the absorption band of a photovoltaic cell. The photonic crystal can be fabricated by patterning a sacrificial layer with a plurality of holes, into which is deposited a supporting material. Removing the rest of the sacrificial layer creates a supporting structure, on which a layer of metal is deposited to define resonant cavities. A dielectric material then fills the cavities to form the photonic crystal.

  • Patent number: 9524315
Abstract: A computing device updates date values in a read dataset to support data analytics. Outlier and non-outlier date values are identified by, for each date value as a respective date value, reading a predefined number of neighboring date values relative to the respective date value; computing a median value and a median absolute deviation value of the predefined number of neighboring date values; computing a difference between the respective date value and the median value; dividing an absolute value of the difference by the median absolute deviation value to define a deviation value; comparing the deviation value to a threshold deviation value; and, based on the comparison, identifying the respective date value as an outlier or a non-outlier date value. Each identified non-outlier date value is updated with a new date computed using a date offset value. Each updated, identified non-outlier date value is replaced in a date updated dataset.
