  • Patent number: 9523117
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for analyzing genes using SDL-PCR (separation of displaced ligation probe-based PCR), and more particularly to a method for analyzing genes using SDL-PCR, in which probes comprising a nucleotide sequence complementary to the gene of interest are ligated with each other by ligase, and another probe capable of hybridizing to the probes is hybridized and extended, thereby preparing a template probe, and the template probe for the gene of interest is amplified using universal primers. According to the SDL-PCR method of the present invention, non-specific amplification can be minimized by removing non-ligated probes or genomic DNA using a tag, and separation can be achieved within a shorter time compared to a separation method that is performed using exonuclease.

  • Patent number: 9525330
Abstract: An electropermanent linear actuator has a stator, forcer, drive circuitry, and feedback control mechanism. The stator includes at least one electropermanent magnet with a coil that passes current pulses that change the magnetization of the magnet, which change persists after current is removed. The forcer moves with respect to the stator in response to the persistent changes in magnetization. Drive circuitry controls the position or speed of the actuator by controlling the timing, magnitude, and/or shape of the current pulses. The voltage and duration of pulses are of sufficient magnitude to cause the magnetization change to persist after cessation of current, with voltage and current returning substantially to zero between pulses. The feedback control mechanism determines, based on actuator velocity or position, when the next current pulse should be issued, pulse issuance being timed so that the actuator will continue to move throughout the absence of applied current between pulses.

Abstract: A medical sensor is described. In an example, the medical sensor includes a nanoscale tapered waveguide attached to a substrate. The nanoscale tapered waveguide includes a nanoscale channel that receives fluid and an excitation light and that outputs a response light. The excitation light propagates through the fluid. A receiving channel of the nanoscale channel is configured as a waveguide that receives and guides the excitation to a linearly tapered channel of the nanoscale channel. The linearly tapered channel has three dimensional linear tapering that focuses the excitation light guided from the receiving channel into an optical response channel of the nanoscale channel. In turn, the optical response channel is configured as a waveguide that outputs a response light in response to the excitation light focused from the linearly tapered channel.
