Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of manufacturing inorganic hollow yarns, such as cermets, oxide-non oxide composites, poorly sinterable non-oxides, and the like, at low costs. The method includes preparing a composition comprising a self-propagating high temperature reactant, a polymer and a dispersant, wet-spinning the composition through a spinneret to form wet-spun yarns, washing and drying the wet-spun yarns to form polymer-self propagating high temperature reactant hollow yarns, and heat-treating the polymer-self propagating high temperature reactant hollow yarns to remove a polymeric component from the polymer-self propagating high temperature reactant hollow yarns while inducing self-propagating high temperature reaction of the self-propagating high temperature reactant to form inorganic hollow yarns. The composition comprises 45˜60 wt % of the self-propagating high temperature reactant, 6˜17 wt % of the polymer, 0.1˜4 wt % of the dispersant, and the balance of an organic solvent.

Abstract: A camouflage structure, capable of altering its appearance, comprises a camouflage graphic layer and a color-changing layer disposed on the camouflage graphic layer. Originally, the camouflage structure presents a first color state. After the color-changing layer changes the color by driving methods, the camouflage structure presents a second color state. For example, a transparent or semi-transparent color-changing layer able to reflect or emitting red light could be disposed on the woodland camouflage graphic layer, which allows for the overall appearance to change from the greenish woodland camouflage to the brownish desert camouflage. Alternatively, the camouflage structure could comprise a greenish camouflage graphic layer made of material with red-shift characteristics, which means the greenish camouflage graphic layer consists of different colors of chromic materials with reversible red-shift characteristics.

Abstract: Scheduling methods and apparatus for use with optical switches with hybrid architectures are provided. An exemplary distributed scheduling process achieves 100% throughput for any admissible Bernoulli arrival traffic. The exemplary distributed scheduling process may be easily adapted to work for any finite round trip time, without sacrificing any throughput. Simulation results also showed that this distributed scheduling process can provide very good delay performance for different traffic patterns and for different round trip times associated with current switches.

Abstract: A method is described for the reproduction of hair by removing hair in the anagen phase in such a way that the hair stem cells which are responsible for hair growth are still attached to the hair removed, bringing these into contact with extracellular matrix components or substitutes therefor, and implanting the hair in the scalp. The application of extracellular matrix components or substitutes therefor for the reproduction of hair is also described.
Abstract: Detected ion charge states are discriminated in a mass spectrograph using a superconducting stripline detector (SSLD) as the detector thereof. A set of mass spectra of the singly charged or higher ions, the doubly charged or higher ions, the triply charged or higher ions (and successively higher ion charge states) are determined by measuring the mass spectra successively while decreasing the bias current flowing through the superconducting stripline detector. Then, the data of singly charged ions alone can be determined by subtracting the data of the doubly charged or higher ions from the data of the singly charged or higher ions. In a similar manner, the data of doubly charged ions alone, the data of triply charged ions alone (and similarly successively multiply charged ions) can also be determined.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an acid catalyst composition for producing 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural from galactan derived from seaweed and a method for producing 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural from galactan derived from seaweed on a two component phase using the acid catalyst, the acid catalyst composition for producing 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural from galactan derived from seaweed including organic solvent and dilute hydrochloric acid, a concentration of the dilute hydrochloric acid being 4N to 8N (normal). According to the present disclosure, there is an advantage of converting 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural from galactan derived from seaweed by means of a single process by mixing dilute hydrochloric acid and organic solvent by an optimal ratio, unlike conventional methods for producing 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural that had to go through a multi-phase process of preconditioning and saccharification.
