  • Patent number: 7116863
Abstract: Provided is a wavelength tunable optical filter of a micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS). The wavelength tunable optical filter comprises two optical fibers or optical waveguides having their optical axes aligned to each other, two lens for collimating light at leading ends of the optical fibers or optical waveguides, two or more mirrors formed on a substrate, thermal actuators supporting at least one of the mirrors, wherein one of the mirrors is actuated by thermal expansion of the actuator. Because all mirrors are formed on a substrate, a manufacturing process is simple and an initial resonance wavelength can be precisely adjusted. Since the thermal expansion is generated by the electrical current directly flowing through the thermal actuators, it can be actuated by a low consumption power. Also, since an electrostatic force is not used to move the mirrors, a sticking phenomenon between the mirrors does not occur, and the wavelength can be tunable in a wide range.

  • Patent number: 7117070
Abstract: A power flow controller responsive to power circulation demand for optimizing power transfer is disclosed. When a power flow controller operates at its rated capacity, it can no longer regulate from-bus voltage set-points, line power flow set-points, or both. In such cases, the power flow controller switches to power circulation set-point control without exceeding the rated capacities of the voltage-sourced converters in the power flow controller. Power-voltage (PV) curves associated with voltage stability analysis for maximizing power transfer can be generated and stored for use with a power flow controller operating in automatic power flow control mode.

  • Patent number: 7117413
Abstract: A wrapped core linking module for accessing system on chip test includes a link control register that stores link control configuration between cores in a scan path of a system on chip according to control signals applied from an outside boundary. A link control register controller controls a shift and update link configuration by activating the link control register. A switch switches the scan path between wrapped cores based on the link control configuration of the link control register. An output logic connects the link control register to a test data out (TDO) of the chip in case of testing on chip or cores of system on chip.

  • Patent number: 7116245
Abstract: An emergency vehicle intersection preemption beacon/heading system and method that relies on the use of highly localized, low-power communication system. The system can be implemented in a “car-active” mode or a “car-passive” mode. In the “car-active” mode, the system includes a low-power transmitter providing a beacon channel for all emergency vehicles that allow them to separately communicate with each intersection for a very short period of time and within very close proximity. The localized low-power transmitter continuously transmits the emergency vehicle ID and heading every second. When within range, receivers at each intersection are able to lock the signal and begin receiving ID and heading data. In the “car-passive” system, each intersection will have a low-power, highly localized transmitter. In this embodiment, the intersection constantly sends out pulses of data.

  • Patent number: 7114394
Abstract: A vibration test system for structures comprises a vibration exciter that vibrates a real model portion, a load meter that measures a load, and a computer that receives a numerical model representing a numerical model portion. The computer includes a block that calculates a displacement, which is made in a predetermined time after completion of measurement, according to a load value and an external force value. A signal production block produces a command signal using as a target value the displacement calculated by the displacement calculation block. A step control block controls the displacement calculation block and signal production block so that they will act cyclically. The displacement calculation block uses an ?OS method to time integrate a solution of a vibrational equation.

  • Patent number: 7115685
Abstract: Fluoropolymer materials containing tetrafluoroethylene monomers, such as PTFE, are significantly swollen by supercritical carbon dioxide at high temperatures and pressures. The swollen fluoropolymer is processable by molding, extrusion, and other techniques. In addition, the fluoropolymer may be sintered at significantly lower temperatures compared to a nonswollen fluoropolymer material. The melting temperature of fluorinated polymers containing tetrafluoroethylene and triflouroethylene monomers which are swollen with supercritical carbon dioxide is significantly reduced, thereby permitting manufacturing operations such as extruding and molding to be performed at lower temperatures and with reduced risk of decomposition.
