  • Patent number: 10884383
Abstract: Machines can be controlled using advanced control systems that implement an automated version of singular spectrum analysis (SSA). For example, a control system can perform SSA on a time series having one or more time-dependent variables by: generating a trajectory matrix from the time series, performing singular value decomposition on the trajectory matrix to determine elementary matrices; and categorizing the elementary matrices into groups. The elementary matrices can be automatically categorized into the groups by: generating one or more w-correlation matrices based on spectral components associated with the time series, determining w-correlation values based on the one or more w-correlation matrices; categorizing the w-correlation values into a predefined number of w-correlation sets, and forming the groups based on the predefined number of w-correlation sets. The control system can then generate a predictive forecast using the groups and control operation of a machine using the predictive forecast.

  • Patent number: 10881536
Abstract: [Object] To provide a hybrid actuator attaining both driving force and responsiveness, capable of reducing inertia of a movable portion. [Solution] A pneumatic air muscle has a cylinder (112) provided in a flexible member (100) forming a pneumatic artificial muscle. At the center of an upper lid element (109) of the cylinder, a through hole is opened, and an inner wire (103) of a Bowden cable passes through this through hole and is coupled by means of a spring (106) to a bottom portion of the cylinder. When the pneumatic artificial muscle contracts, the inner wire (103) and the pneumatic air muscle move together because of the stopper (105), and the contraction force is transmitted. In contrast, when the pneumatic air muscle extends, the stopper (105) is disengaged, while the tension of inner wire (103) is kept by the spring (106) to prevent slacking.

  • Patent number: 10886691
Abstract: A ring optical resonator is formed on a substrate. An outer circumferential surface of the resonator substantially confines one or more circumferential resonant optical modes. The resonator is positioned above a void formed in the substrate and is supported above the void by a portion of a material layer on the substrate that extends radially inward above the void from an outer circumferential edge of the void to the outer circumferential surface of the resonator. An optical waveguide can be integrally formed on the substrate and traverses a portion of the material layer above the void. The optical waveguide and the ring optical resonator are arranged and positioned so as to establish evanescent optical coupling between them. Q-factors of 108 or more have been achieved with a silica resonator and silicon nitride waveguide integrally formed on a silicon substrate.
