Patent number: 11588157Abstract: Proposed is an iridium alloy catalyst having reversible catalytic activity for an oxygen evolution reaction (OER), a hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), and a hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) by including an iridium alloy including iridium (Ir) and nickel (Ni). The iridium alloy catalyst according to the present disclosure is rapidly converted to an iridium alloy catalyst in an oxide form and an iridium alloy catalyst in a metallic form according to applied voltage by controlling its crystallinity. Thus, even in case an oxide layer is formed after the OER, the oxidation layer disappears during the HER and HOR and the properties of an iridium metal catalyst remain, thereby maintaining HER/HOR performance.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2021Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: Korea Institute of Science and TechnologyInventors: Hyung Suk Oh, Woong Hee Lee, Byoung Koun Min, Yun Jeong Hwang, Ung Lee, Dong Ki Lee, Da Hye Won, Jai Hyun Koh

Patent number: 11588556Abstract: A High Bandwidth Individual Channel Control via Optical Reference Interferometry (HICCORI) system actively controls the phase and/or polarization of the optical emission of each element in a tiled optical array. It can also actively align any high-frequency broadening waveform applied to the array beams for spectral broadening or data transmission. By maintaining consistent polarization and manipulating the phase relationships of the beams emitted by the array elements, the HICCORI system can manipulate the spatial pattern of constructive and destructive interference formed as the individual emissions coherently combine. Active feedback control allows the desired phase, polarization, and/or spectral broadening alignment to be maintained in the presence of external disturbances.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2021Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Stephen Conrad, Adam Alexander Libson, Andrew Benedick, Dale H. Patent number: 11588373Abstract: A kinetic energy recovery system with flywheel includes a cascade flywheel doubly-fed electric machine and an electric motor. The cascade flywheel doubly-fed electric machine has a stator end coil, a rotor end coil and a flywheel. The flywheel can store kinetic energy by increasing speed or releasing kinetic energy by decreasing speed. A control circuit has an inverter, a rectifier and a DC bus connecting the inverter and the rectifier. The inverter supplies alternating current to the rotor end coil. The rectifier has an AC end connected to the stator end coil through an AC bus. The rectifier converts alternating current to direct current, so that the inverter can draw power from the DC bus. The electric motor has a phase coil connected to the AC bus. Patent number: 11587646Abstract: A variational autoencoder (VAE) has been developed to learn a continuous numerical, or latent, representation of molecular structure to expand reference libraries for small molecule identification. The VAE has been extended to include a chemical property decoder, trained as a multitask network, to shape the latent representation such that it assembles according to desired chemical properties. The approach is unique in its application to metabolomics and small molecule identification, focused on properties that are obtained from experimental measurements (m/z, CCS) paired with its training paradigm, which involves a cascade of transfer learning iterations. First, molecular representation is learned from a large dataset of structures with m/z labels. Next, in silico property values are used to continue training. Finally, the network is further refined by being trained with the experimental data.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2019Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: Battelle Memorial InstituteInventors: Sean M. Publication number: 20230046609Abstract: A method and hardware based system provide for descriptor-based feature mapping during terrain relative navigation (TRN). A first reference image/premade terrain map and a second image are acquired. Features in the first reference image and the second image are detected. A scale and an orientation of the one or more detected features are estimated based on an intensity centroid (IC), moments of the detected features, an orientation which is in turn based on an angle between a center of each of the detected features and the IC, and an orientation stability measure which is in turn based on a radius. Signatures are computed for each of the detected features using the estimated scale and orientation and then converted into feature descriptors. The descriptors are used to match features from the two images which are then used to perform TRN.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2022Publication date: February 16, 2023Applicant: California Institute of TechnologyInventors: Yang Cheng, Adnan I.
