Abstract: Radar, lidar, and other active 3D imaging techniques require large, heavy sensors that consume lots of power. Passive 3D imaging techniques based on feature matching are computationally expensive and limited by the quality of the feature matching. Fortunately, there is a robust, computationally inexpensive way to generate 3D images from full-motion video acquired from a platform that moves relative to the scene. The full-motion video frames are registered to each other and mapped to the scene coordinates using data about the trajectory of the platform with respect to the scene. The time derivative of the registered frames equals the product of the height map of the scene, the projected angular velocity of the platform, and the spatial gradient of the registered frames. This relationship can be solved in (near) real time to produce the height map of the scene from the full-motion video and the trajectory.
Abstract: The disclosure provides a method for assisting an unregistered user device to access private network services and a communication system. The method includes steps as follows. A request to access a private service of a private network is sent by a user device. In response to determining that the user device not registered on the private network wants to access the private service, the user device is assisted to obtain a temporary user profile by a mobile edge computing server through an emergency type attachment procedure. In response to determining that the user device is registered on the private network through the emergency type attachment procedure, a regular attachment procedure is executed by the user device based on the temporary user profile. In response to determining that the user device executes the regular attachment procedure, the mobile edge computing server provides the user device with the private service.

Abstract: A method of unsupervised learning of a metric representation and a corresponding system for a mobile device determines a metric position information for a mobile device from an environmental representation. The mobile device comprises at least one sensor for acquiring sensor data and an odometer system configured to acquire displacement data of the mobile device. An environmental representation is generated based on the acquired sensor data by applying an unsupervised learning algorithm. The mobile device moves along a trajectory and the displacement data and the sensor data are acquired while the mobile device is moving along the trajectory. A set of mapping parameters is calculated based on the environmental representation and the displacement data. A metric position estimation is determined based on a further environmental representation and the calculated set of mapping parameters.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to an apparatus and methods for applying X-ray reflectometry (XRR) in characterizing three dimensional nanostructures supported on a flat substrate with a miniscule sampling area and a thickness in nanometers. In particular, this disclosure is targeted for addressing the difficulties encountered when XRR is applied to samples with intricate nanostructures along all three directions, e.g. arrays of nanostructured poles or shafts. Convergent X-ray with long wavelength, greater than that from a copper anode of 0.154 nm and less than twice of the characteristic dimensions along the film thickness direction, is preferably used with appropriate collimations on both incident and detection arms to enable the XRR for measurements of samples with limited sample area and scattering volumes.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for implementing hybrid prediction. Hybrid prediction integrates two deep learning based trajectory prediction approaches: grid-based approaches and graph-based approaches. Hybrid prediction techniques can achieve enhanced performance by combining the grid and graph approaches in a manner that incorporates appropriate inductive biases for different elements of a high-dimensional space. A hybrid prediction framework processor can generate trajectory predictions relating to movement of agents in a surrounding environment based on a prediction model generating using hybrid prediction. Trajectory predictions output from the hybrid prediction framework processor can be used to control an autonomous vehicle. For example, the autonomous vehicle can perform safety-aware and autonomous operations to avoid oncoming objects, based on the trajectory predictions.
Abstract: Disclosed are dielectric cavity arrays with cavities formed by pairs of dielectric tips, wherein the cavities have low mode volume (e.g., 7*10?5?3, where X is the resonance wavelength of the cavity array), and large quality factor Q (e.g., 106 or more). Applications for such dielectric cavity arrays include, but are not limited to, Raman spectroscopy, second harmonic generation, optical signal detection, microwave-to-optical transduction, and as light emitting devices.
Abstract: An implementation cost of a line-scan optical coherence tomography (OCT) apparatus is reduced by miniaturizing a scanning mirror and using a light source with relaxed requirement in intensity uniformity. The mirror reflects a probe light beam to different parts of a sample for line-scanning the sample. A line-compressing lens compresses the probe light beam's cross-sectional length before the beam reaches the mirror, allowing the mirror to be miniaturized to reflect only the compressed beam. In generating a linear light beam that gives the probe light beam, a cascade of collimating lens, Powell lens and focusing lens generates the linear light beam from a raw light beam of a point source. A slit further filters the linear light beam to remove a peripheral portion thereof such that the linear light beam is substantially uniform in intensity even if an asymmetrical divergent light source is used.

Abstract: A system and method for visualizing and querying high dimensional data to a user. The system includes a user device, a data-pearls visualization and querying server. The server obtains the high dimensional data from the user device associated with user. The server generates data clusters and sub-divides the data clusters into non-overlapping subsets of data-pearls using a clustering technique. The server selects a shape for each data-pearl by comparing a distance between centroid of a data-pearl and a farthest point from a determined centroid using Lp norm distance measures. The server configures each data-pearl in a three-dimensional plot. The server enables the user to visualize the data-pearls on a screen of the user device. The server queries data based on a query using data dimension technique. The server dimensions data related to the query through determined classifiers based on filtered data after pruning unrelated data to the query.
