    Abstract: A collision warning system and method are provided. The system includes an image capturing apparatus, a sensing apparatus, and a computing apparatus. The computing apparatus analyzes a vehicle side image to generate a plurality of objects and an object coordinate corresponding to each of the objects. The computing apparatus calculates an aerial view coordinate corresponding to each of the objects based on the object coordinates and a pitch angle corresponding to the image capturing apparatus. The computing apparatus calculates a predicted collision time between the vehicle and each of the objects based on a vehicle speed, a turning angle, and the aerial view coordinates. The computing apparatus generates a plurality of warning regions and determines a warning scope corresponding to each of the warning regions based on the predicted collision times.

The facial surface data may also be processed to determine a measure of nasal symmetry associated with a selected nasal surface region, such as an aesthetic subunit. Nasal deviation and symmetry information based on both measures may then be presented. In some example implementations, a single nasal symmetry measure is generated and present for a given nasal surface region. Reference surface data characterizing a reference symmetrical facial shape and having a defined facial direction relative to a coordinate system may be employed to align the facial surface data prior to the determination of the nasal deviation and nasal symmetry measures.

    Abstract: Methods for non-destructive testing of engineering materials. In one aspect, a method can be used to calculate residual longitudinal and annular welding stresses in welded joints and can be used to assess the quality of pipeline welds according to the criterion of the level of residual stresses and to determine the initial parameters for the pipeline strength calculation. In some aspects, the method enables independent calculation of the longitudinal and hoop residual stresses. Thus, the stresses can be calculated in the seam metal of the pipelines welds, where they reach their maximum values. The method can be used to test a pipeline section using an ultrasonic echo method to measure the propagation time for longitudinal waves and transverse waves polarized along and across the pipe axis. The measurement results define the distinguishing features of the stress state of a welded joint for a specific type of pipe by numerical modeling.

The method includes, in a first stage, applying power to and increasing a temperature of the heating element from an initial temperature to a first temperature; in a second stage, controlling power to decrease the temperature of the heating element from the first temperature to a second temperature; and in a third stage, controlling the heating element to provide a constant temperature operation at the second temperature. During detection of inhalation, power to the heating element is increased to raise its temperature to a third temperature. In the third stage, the heating element increases the temperature only when suction is detected, thereby ensuring that a supply of an aerosol to the inhaler and minimize waste of electric energy and the aerosol forming substrate.
