Abstract: Systems and methods for metrics capture and use in a computing network are provided. In examples, systems and methods are provided to permit network elements (such as network devices and workloads) to be instrumented for metrics collection as part of the process of provisioning the network element on the network. In examples, a collection template is provided to a customer that can be used to generate a collection component for collecting metrics associated with the network element. In examples, the collected metrics can be stored and used by an edge recommendation system to determine one or more recommended edge sites at which the network element should be placed according to optimization criteria.

Abstract: In examples, systems and methods are described for edge computing recommendations and implementation. A service request is received from a client computing device that includes information about a location of a customer site and latency requirements of the customer, among other information. The system provides recommendations for particular provider computing site(s) based on, e.g., rough and/or fine latency estimates, and implements the requested computing services at selected provider computing site(s).

Abstract: A fastener system that includes a fastener, a compression-limiting sleeve, and a retainer which generally retains the compression-limiting sleeve on the fastener. By providing that the compression-limiting sleeve is not staked to the fastener, existing technology can be used, and no extra staking processing step needs to be performed. The fastener may comprise a conventional metal threaded screw or bolt, possibly having a recess in its head for receiving a driver. Preferably, the compression-limiting sleeve is cold headed as opposed to being stamped, and preferably includes a counter bore which assures that an end of the retainer is below an end surface of the compression-limiting sleeve. Preferably, the retainer is formed of a thermoplastic elastomer or another suitable material.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing intelligence enabled things (“IET”). In various embodiments, a first IET tag affixed to a first object among a plurality of objects might receive information regarding the first object and/or nearby objects. The first IET tag might determine a status of the first object and/or the nearby objects based at least partly on the received information and based at least partly on first data assigned to the first IET tag. The first IET tag might analyze the determined status to determine whether the determined status exceeds predetermined thresholds for normal parameters for the first object and/or the nearby objects. Based on a determination that the determined status exceeds predetermined thresholds for normal parameters for the first object and/or the nearby objects, the first IET tag might autonomously self-report to a computing system a state of the first object and/or the nearby objects.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing media content streaming/downloading and playback, and, more particularly, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing video quality optimization based on display capabilities. In various embodiments, a computing system might receive user input from a user indicating a user request for media content. The computing system might autonomously determine characteristics or attributes of a playback device (i.e., a display device and/or audio playback device, etc.). The computing system might send, to a media content source over a network, a request for the media content, the request comprising information regarding presentation characteristics that are based at least in part on the determined characteristics of the playback device.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing telecommunications equipment health monitoring and management. In various embodiments, a computing system might receive, from a monitoring sensor(s), one or more characteristics of each of at least one of telecommunications equipment, telecommunications equipment batteries, or battery strings, in some cases via a network maintenance tunnel. The computing system might analyze the monitored one or more characteristics to identify each telecommunications equipment, each telecommunications equipment battery, or each battery string having equipment health issues.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe a testing framework for adaptive virtual services. In an example, a function vendor provides a network function having stated specifications to a service provider. A derived signature is generated for the network function (e.g., based on associated metadata, an image associated with the network function, and/or a network signature for the network function), which is used to classify the network function. The testing framework is used to test the network function according to its classification, thereby determining a set of capabilities. In examples, a network function having the same or similar signature as a previously tested network function may be categorized according to the previously tested network function. The network function is categorized according to its determined capabilities and added to an inventory of network functions for the service provider. Network functions in the inventory can then be selected to form a computer network.

Abstract: A liquid leak detection and prevention device comprised of a leak detection apparatus positioned near a water-dependent appliance to monitor for moisture due to a leak, and a leak prevention system connected to the leak detection apparatus in fluid communication with a water pipe attached to the water-dependent appliance and positioned in-line with the water pipe is disclosed.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing a distributed computing mesh, and, more particularly, for implementing a distributed computing mesh using a hierarchical framework to distribute workload across multiple computing nodes. In various embodiments, a hierarchical distributed computing mesh might be implemented using a plurality of network nodes. A first control node may assign at least one first network node as at least one second control node. The second control node might receive a computing task from the first control node. The second control node might designate additional network nodes to process one or more portions of the computing task. The second control node may then divide the computing task and send the one or more portions of the computing task to the additional network nodes for processing. The second control node may receive one or more processed portions of the computing task from the additional network nodes.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques for underground cable installation are provided. A system includes a compressor and a boring attachment. The boring attachment may be operatively coupled to the compressor and further coupled to an outer sheath of a buried cable. The boring attachment may be configured to be actuated by the compressor. In response to being actuated by the compressor, the boring attachment may be configured to displace at least some ground material, in contact with the buried cable, in which the buried cable is buried, and advance in at least one direction along a longitudinal axis of the buried cable.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing a telemetry hub, and, more particularly, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing a telemetry hub that obtains sensor data from a plurality of sources and that determines one or more first actions to take in response to receiving the first sensor data. In operation, a telemetry hub might receive first sensor data from one or more sensors. The telemetry hub may determine whether the first sensor data can be trusted and whether the first sensor data is valid. Based on a determination that the first sensor data can be trusted and is valid, the telemetry hub might analyze the first sensor data to determine one or more first actions to take. The telemetry hub might then implement the one or more first actions based at least in part on the analysis of the first sensor data.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing Internet of Things (“IoT”) functionality, and, in particular embodiments, implementing added services for OBD2 connection for IoT-capable vehicles. In various embodiments, a portable device (when connected to an OBD2 DLC port of a vehicle) might monitor wireless communications between a vehicle computing system(s) and an external device(s), might monitor vehicle sensor data from vehicular sensors tracking operational conditions of the vehicle, and might monitor operator input sensor data from operator input sensors tracking input by a vehicle operator. The portable device (or a server) might analyze either the monitored wireless communications or a combination of the monitored vehicle sensor data and the monitored operator input sensor data, to determine whether vehicle operation has been compromised.

Abstract: A wireless testing system is provided that testing transmission speeds associated with a WLAN or other wireless network. In one instance, a network transmission between a device in a telecommunications network and a modem be measured and initiated via an application executed on a mobile device. One or more Wi-Fi speed tests may also be performed to determine a transmission speed between a wireless device associated with the premises and the modem of the WLAN. To conduct the Wi-Fi speed test, a mobile device (such as the mobile device executing the application) may transmit, in some instances in response to an input to the mobile device, an instruction to the test controller to conduct the Wi-Fi speed test. The measured transmission speeds may be controlled by a controller that may store the speed test results in a network repository available to the mobile device.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing off-chain functionality for data contained in blocks of blockchain. In various embodiments, a computing system might assemble data extracted from each block of a first block(s) of a first instance of a blockchain in a generated first file(s), the assembled data being organized to mirror how the data is organized and stored in the first block(s); might store, in a secure database, the first file(s), the first file(s) being configured to be content-searchable, content-sortable, and/or content-filterable; might generate a second instance of the blockchain, which contains one or more second blocks, the one or more second blocks each containing the hash value of each corresponding first block(s), without containing the data contained in each block of the first block(s); and might store, in a distributed peer data storage system of the blockchain system, the generated second instance of the blockchain.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques for providing an in-line AI virtual assistant are provided. A system includes a session border controller coupled to an end-user device, and a session initiation protocol stack. The session initiation protocol stack includes a processor, and non-transitory computer readable media comprising instructions executable by the processor to: receive, from the session border controller, a call invite request; provision, via the AI virtual assistant service, an AI virtual assistant instance in response to the call invite request; and join the AI virtual assistant instance to a call with the end-user device.

A system includes a host machine that includes a database, processor, and non-transitory computer readable media comprising instructions executable by the processor to obtain, via the database, a network configuration, spawn a container according to the network configuration, wherein the container is configured, based on the network configuration, to be coupled to a network overlay via a network interface, receive, via the network interface, incoming data associated with the container, the incoming data having attached one or more attached network data attributes, and identify, via the database, the attached one or more network data attributes attached to the incoming data as one or more network data attributes of the network data model.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing customer premises device functionality, and, more particularly, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing media adaptation device functionality. In various embodiment, a rear-facing camera of a media adaptation device might capture a first image of a wall of a customer premises, the wall including an electrical wall outlet into which the media adaptation device is intended to be plugged. The media adaptation device might display, on a front display device disposed on a front face (and in some cases, also on top and/or side display devices on corresponding faces) of the media adaptation device, a second image based on the captured first image of the wall of the customer premises. The media adaptation device might also perform one or more first functions other than display of images or videos, after the media adaptation device has been plugged into the electrical wall outlet.

Abstract: A system for noise profile generation includes a customer gateway communicatively coupled to one or more end devices over a communication medium, at least one noise information node communicatively coupled to the customer gateway and programmed to extract noise information present on a communication path from the customer gateway to at least one of the one or more end devices, a noise profile database storing one or more noise profiles, and a noise profile generator. The noise profile generator includes at least one processor and non-transitory computer readable media having a set of instructions executable by the at least one processor to retrieve the extracted noise information associated with the communication path, determine whether the at least one noise characteristic of the extracted noise information matches with one or more noise profiles and identify at least one noise source on the communication path.
