  • Patent number: 12118676
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for managing the sensory stimulus generated by a head mounted display (HMD). One method includes identifying a game state of a game being executed for a current session by a computer for display on a head mounted display (HMD) for a user. Then, determining a game intensity value for said game state based on user intensity feedback received from one or more prior gaming sessions by users. The user intensity feedback describes levels of sensory stimulus obtained from the users during user play of the game via an HMD of the respective users, and the determined game intensity value is calculated by analysis of the levels of sensory stimulus received from the users. Processing the game intensity value to cause a higher rendering priority to a viewpoint of the user's gaze than regions outside of the viewpoint. The viewpoint is a portion of the display of the HMD.

  • Patent number: 12118691
Abstract: An image transmission/reception system, an image transmission apparatus, an image reception apparatus, an image transmission/reception method, and a program, generate, from image data representing a downscaled image, a higher resolution image than the downscaled image and is more similar to an original image. An encoding process section generates image data representing a downscaled image obtained by downscaling the original image. An additional data generation section generates additional data on the basis of the original image, the additional data being unidentifiable by the image data alone. A data transmission section transmits the image data and the additional data. A data reception section receives the image data and the additional data. An upscaling section generates an upscaled image on the basis of the image data and the additional data, the upscaled image being higher in resolution than the downscaled image. A display control section causes the upscaled image to be displayed.

  • Patent number: 12112453
Abstract: A substitute image generating section generates a substitute image corresponding to second image data on the basis of first image data. According to success or failure of reception of the second image data, a display control section causes either one of the to-be-displayed image generated on the basis of the second image data and the substitute image generated on the basis of the first image data to be displayed. The substitute image generating section starts the generation of the substitute image corresponding to the second image data based on the first image data before the success or failure of the reception of the second image data is confirmed.

  • Patent number: 12112394
Abstract: A method including rendering graphics for an application using graphics processing units (GPUs). Responsibility for rendering of geometry is divided between GPUs based on screen regions, each GPU having a corresponding division of the responsibility which is known. A plurality of pieces of geometry of an image frame is assigned to the GPUs for geometry testing. A first GPU state configuring one or more shaders to perform the geometry testing is set. Geometry testing is performed at GPUs on the plurality of pieces of geometry to generate information regarding each piece of geometry and its relation to each of the plurality of screen regions. A second GPU state configuring the one or more shaders to perform rendering is set. The information generated for each of the plurality of pieces of geometry is used when rendering the plurality of pieces of geometry at the GPUs.

The first reception section receives image information acquired by an image sensor. The second reception section receives sound information that is acquired by one or plural directional microphones and that is generated for at least a partial region in a field of the image sensor. The association processing section associates the sound information with a pixel address of the image information indicating a position in the field. The object detection section detects, from the image information, at least a part of an object that is present in the field. The process execution section executes a predetermined process on the object on the basis of a result of the association performed by the association processing section.

  • Publication number: 20240334130
Abstract: A method for rendering 3D audio is provided. The method includes: obtaining a to-be-output audio signal, wherein the to-be-output audio signal comprises one or more audio layers; selecting a to-be-filtered audio layer from the one or more audio layers; selecting a rendering Head-Related Transfer Function, HRTF, from a database of HRTFs; applying the rendering HRTF to the to-be-filtered audio layer to generate a filtered audio layer, such that the to-be-output audio signal comprises the filtered audio layer and is a 3D audio signal. In this way, 3D effects are only applied to specific audio layers of an audio signal, thereby efficiently rendering 3D audio without unnecessarily impacting the timbre of the audio signal.
