  • Patent number: 8619658
Abstract: In a wireless communication system comprising at least one access point (AP) and a plurality of stations (STAs), a method for transmission management of the wireless medium comprises the AP configuring a Multiple Receiver Aggregate Multi-Poll/Power Save Aggregation Descriptor (MMP/PSAD) frame with scheduled Uplink Transmission Time (ULT) information for the plurality of STAs. The AP then transmits the MMP/PSAD frame to the plurality of STAs. Upon successfully receiving and decoding the MMP/PSAD frame, STAs transmit during their scheduled ULT.

  • Patent number: 8621310
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assigning a hybrid-automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to support enhanced uplink (EU) data transmission. Configuration parameters for enhanced uplink (EU) operation are received. The configuration parameters include a priority associated with a medium access control for dedicated channel (MAC-d) flow and a maximum number of H-ARQ transmissions associated with the MAC-d flow. Data is selected for transmission over an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) based on a priority of the MAC-d flow, wherein data with the highest priority is selected. On a condition that the selected data is new data that was not previously transmitted, an available H-ARQ process is assigned for supporting transmission of the selected data, and the selected data is transmitted over the E-DCH using the assigned H-ARQ process.

  • Patent number: 8619696
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) transmissions are disclosed. An enhanced uplink medium access control (MAC-e/es) entity processes a received scheduling grant to calculate a serving grant. The MAC-e/es entity determines whether both a hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process for scheduled data and scheduled data are available. If an H-ARQ process for scheduled data and scheduled data are available, the MAC-e/es entity determines whether a serving grant exists. The MAC-e/es entity calculates a remaining power based on maximum allowed power and restricts an E-DCH transport format combination (E-TFC) based on the remaining power. The MAC-e/es entity selects an E-TFC using the serving grant and generates a MAC-e protocol data unit. The MAC-e/es entity may process the received scheduled grant is at each transmission time interval or may store the received scheduled grant in a grant list until there is E-DCH data to transmit.

  • Publication number: 20130343278
Abstract: A method for transmitting a packet from a transmitter to a receiver in a wireless communication system begins by building a packet by a transport format combination (TFC) selection process, and the packet is transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver. If the transmitter receives an indication that the packet was not successfully received at the receiver, the packet is retransmitted via a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) procedure. If the HARQ procedure did not successfully transmit the packet, then the packet is retransmitted via a retransmission management (RM) procedure. If the RM procedure did not successfully transmit the packet, then the packet is discarded by the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 8606285
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for determining whether to admit a user equipment (UE) in response to an indicated admission delay. By using a random access procedure, a radio access network (RAN) may receive a radio resource control (RRC) connection request message from the UE that includes an establishment cause indicating the admission delay of the UE. The determination may be based on loading and not on delay. The UE may be in an idle state prior to the RAN receiving the RRC connection request message.

  • Publication number: 20130322386
Abstract: A method and apparatus for accessing a contention-based uplink random access channel (RACH) in a single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) system are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) randomly selects a RACH subchannel and a signature among a plurality of available RACH subchannels and signatures. The WTRU transmits a preamble using the selected signature via the selected RACH subchannel at a predetermined or computed transmission power. A base station monitors the RACH to detect the preamble and sends an acquisition indicator (AI) to the WTRU when a signature is detected on the RACH. When receiving a positive acknowledgement, the WTRU sends a message part to the base station. If receiving a negative acknowledgement or no response, the WTRU retransmits the preamble.

  • Publication number: 20130326320
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for indicating a temporary block flow (TBF) to which a piggybacked acknowledgement/non-acknowledgement (PAN) field is addressed. A method and apparatus of performing receive processing to reduce the probability of false acceptance of erroneous PANs are also disclosed. A transmit station generates a PAN check sequence (PCS) and performs a channel coding on a PAN field and the PCS. The transmit station scrambles the encoded bits of the PAN field and the PCS with a TBF-specific scrambling code. Because of the scrambling, the PCS decoding at a receive station will pass if the data block is received by an intended receive station, while the PCS decoding will fail if received by a non-intended receive station. Alternatively, the scrambling may be performed before the channel coding. Alternatively, the transmit station may combine the PAN field and a temporary flow identity (TFI) to generate a PCS.
