  • Patent number: 6478124
Abstract: A brake device has magnets arranged on a frame that is fastened to a bearing pedestal of an elevator drive machine. The frame includes a pair of spaced stabilizers attached to a pair of magnet carriers on which the magnets are fastened. The magnets act on disk armatures arranged on brake arms pivoted on the pedestal. The magnetic forces act in opposition to the spring forces of compression springs and release the brake shoes from a brake drum, the forces which then occur being absorbed by the frame.

  • Patent number: 6446760
Abstract: An elevator safety circuit has a series chain of contacts connected between at least one safety relay and an electric power supply and a monitoring device monitoring the voltage and current in the series chain. A signal from the safety relay is transmitted to an elevator control. The voltage across the safety relay is tapped and transmitted to a network connected to a voltage converter of the power supply. If all the contacts of the series chain are closed, the voltage across the safety relay is held constant. Regulation of the voltage across the safety relay makes the safety circuit, with respect to voltage drop, independent of the length of the cabling connecting the contacts.

  • Patent number: 6425460
Abstract: An elevator user creates on a user terminal an individual user program, that is adapted to his needs, for operating the elevator. The user terminal can include a keypad for selecting commands and entering values, and a screen for displaying the command sequence. Depending upon authorization, the user can access the entire command set or only certain commands. The user program is transmitted to a terminal of an elevator control by wireless communication and proceeds to a program control which adds to the user program data required for execution and stores it in a memory. A task manager of the control program initiates the execution of the user program by an interpreter that interprets the program step by step. In the case of elevator-specific instructions such as, for example, travel commands or door opening commands, the interpreter calls up an interface that initiates the further execution by an elevator control.

  • Patent number: 6422350
Abstract: A definite switching-off of drive equipment for elevators is accomplished with a control at an input side external of a frequency changer power unit that ascertains the presence or the absence of monitoring signals which are derived from the mains voltage at the input of the frequency changer power unit. Upon ascertaining the presence of one or more such signals when the drive is at standstill, the input side control interrupts the energy flow to the frequency changer power unit by generating a switching-off signal to a switching device to disconnect the mains voltage.

  • Patent number: 6412604
Abstract: A vehicle of a transportation system is moved by a drive supplied with electrical energy from an energy store. For the purpose of loading the energy store at a stop, a supply unit is provided, by which energy from a stationary energy supply, for example the public power supply or a solar generator, is transferred wirelessly to the energy store. A modulator raises the frequency of the energy to a higher level. The energy is transferred from the primary winding of a coupling transformer across an air gap to a secondary winding. The primary winding is stationary and the secondary winding is located on the vehicle. The energy, whose frequency is set at a high level to improve the energy density, is delivered to a demodulator on the vehicle side which, under the control of a controller, converts the energy into a form suitable for charging the energy store.

  • Patent number: 6406542
Abstract: In equipment for powder-coating, workpieces such as escalator steps are subjected to a current treatment in an anodizing unit. A conveying means advancing carriers for the workpieces is lowered over a tank so that the workpieces in transit are immersed in and continue transit within a bath and after a specific dwell time are lifted back out of the bath at the end of the tank. Arranged in the tank region is a current feed, such as a bus bar, which extends parallel to the travel path of the conveying means. Each carrier is provided with a current take-off which connects the carrier with the current feed. The current connection is produced on lowering the carrier into the bath and interrupted on raising the carrier from the bath.

Abstract: In an escalator step having respective supports at each side of its underside, a first fastening is provided at an upper support end for a transport chain and a second fastening is provided at the lower support end for a guide roller. The second fastening consists of a cantilever arm and a bearing pin with a bore, which are integrated components of the escalator step, wherein the escalator step, cantilever arm, bearing pin and bore are produced as a single unitary casting. A countersunk self-tapping screw is used for fixing a guide roller bearing on the bearing pin. A washer lying under the screw presses on an outer ring of the bearing, whereby the bearing is exactly positioned against a shoulder of the bearing pin and held by the washer.

  • Patent number: 6397975
Abstract: In an elevator installation based on the rucksack principle the elevator car is suspended laterally. The elevator car is supported by a car frame which is guided on the car guiderails and suspended on the suspension rope. The drive unit is located partly in a first wall niche and partly on a support. A traction sheave of the drive unit projects into the elevator hoistway. The elevator car is connected to the counterweight by the suspension rope which is guided over the traction sheave and deflector sheaves. Located above the drive unit in the first wall niche is a controller cabinet. The drive unit and the controller cabinet are accessible from the landing via a maintenance door. The drive unit and the controller cabinet are arranged diagonally on the bottom floor, as a result of which the hoistway cross section can be optimally utilized.

  • Patent number: 6394231
Abstract: A transport system with several autonomous vehicles includes a terminal for a user to input his travel destination. The boarding location and the allocated vehicle are selected for serving the travel request and this information is communicated to the user as an allocated symbol on a display of the terminal. The user can then go to the indicated boarding location. As vehicles arrive at the boarding location, each is indicated on another display by a flashing symbol associated with that vehicle. Thus, the user knows to board only when the flashing symbol corresponds to his allocated symbol.
