  • Patent number: 11318989
Abstract: A steering mechanism for simulating a haptic feedback steering sensation includes a steering shaft connected to a steering wheel. An angle measuring device is arranged on the steering shaft and measures a rotation angle that is prevailing at the steering wheel the steering mechanism further includes an electric motor arranged in a coaxial manner with respect to the steering shaft. The electric motor is configured to apply a torque to the steering shaft. The direction of rotation of the torque applied by the electric motor is usually oriented in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the rotation angle that is prevailing at the steering wheel. Furthermore, the magnitude of the torque is dependent upon the value of the rotation angle and upon the vehicle model that is used as a basis. The electric motor is connected to the steering shaft via a torsionally elastic coupling.

  • Patent number: 11319093
Abstract: Deployable reflector system includes a boom which is extended from a rigid base. A reflector support structure is secured to a carrier end of the boom opposed from the base. The reflector support structure is configured to transition from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration. A tension element coupled at one end to the reflector support structure extends along a length of the boom to the base. The tension element is tensioned as a result of extending the boom, whereby a tension force is provided. The reflector support structure is transitioned from the collapsed configuration to the expanded configuration responsive to the tension force, whereby the same actuator mechanism that extends the boom also expands the reflector support structure.

  • Patent number: 11320367
Abstract: A testing system includes a production-type laser having optical modes of a production laser that interfaces with an optical path of a heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) slider. A far-field light illumination path delivers excitation light from the production-type laser to the optical path of the HAMR slider, the excitation light being emitted from an air bearing surface (ABS) of the HAMR slider. Optics receive the emitted light from the ABS and distribute the emitted light to one or more sensors. The system determines, based on signals received from the one or more sensors, a depolarization of the emitted light and a coupling efficiency of the HAMR slider. The system may also measure light reflecting out of the optical path and Fourier transform these measurements to determine locations of reflections within the optical path.
