  • Patent number: 5293922
Abstract: A metal is attached on a passage-forming core by electrocasting to provide a primary metal layer. A plurality of grooves are formed on the primary metal layer and are filled with filler of low melting point. A metal is attached on the primary metal layer by electrocasting to provide a secondary metal layer. Openings are formed on the secondary metal layer adjacent to its opposite ends so as to communicate with the grooves. The filler in the grooves is melted to provide a plurality of coolant passages. The openings are filled with manifold-forming cores made of filler with low melting point. A metal is attached on the manifold-forming cores by electrocasting to provide tertiary metal layers. Through holes are formed on the tertiary metal layers. The passage-forming core is dissolved and the manifold-forming cores are melted to provide a gas passage and manifolds.

  • Patent number: 5284284
Abstract: A method of guiding a strip (S) of material, e.g. steel, comprises feeding the strip between a pair of spaced guide members (15), through pinch rolls (13) and optionally on to a winder (12) to be coiled. When the strip passes the upstream end of the guide members (15), in a first stage of the method, the members are moved inwardly to narrow the gap between them to a predetermined size greater than the width of the strip. When the leading end of the strip enters the pinch rolls (13), in a second stage of the method, the members move together to further narrow the gap between them. The second stage may, be governed in response to the output from sensors (17, 18) which detect the width of the strip and the position of its centre. The positions of the guide members (15) may be continuously varied to accommodate the varying width of the strip.

  • Patent number: 5207138
Abstract: Upper and lower drums each with a blade are separated from each other by a hydraulic cylinder until a rotating velocity of the drums are accelerated to a predetermined level. Then, the drums are relatively approached by the cylinder so that gears each fitted to a shaft of the corresponding drum are engaged with each other to keep constant a gap between the blades. The blades are approached to a feed line of a strip to cut off the strip.

  • Patent number: 5176822
Abstract: A stock liquid is made to flow into a cell through a stock inlet at one end of the cell. The stock liquid is admixed with air bubbles from an air bubble generating device disposed at a lower portion of the cell and extending between the opposite end plates of the cell, thereby forming the stock liquid into a spiral flow. Ink particles are entrapped by the air bubbles to deink the stock liquid and the air bubbles remain as froth over the free surface of the stock liquid. The froth is made to flow down to the froth trough. The deinked stock liquid is discharged to the exterior of the cell through the stock outlet at the other end of the cell.

  • Patent number: 5170736
Abstract: A module frame to form a virtual hexahedron is provided. A component and its connector are positioned and installed in the module frame by using, as a point of origin in transverse and longitudinal directions, a point on a ridge between a bow-side transverse face and a hull-center-side longitudinal face of the virtual hexahedron and using, as reference points in a vertical direction, points respectively on upper and lower faces of said virtual hexahedron. This prevents any accumulation of dimensional errors of module frames upon installation of the module frames in a ship.
