  • Patent number: 4784208
Abstract: Cut-out portions or horizontal passages in the form of an inverted T are provided to melt solidified shells grown at triple points at which side seal plates, colling rolls and molten metal are made contact with each other. Pouring holes or slits are provided for inside pouring. Length of the slit in the cast widthwise direction is preliminarily determined so as to maintain temperature distribution in molten bath uniformly. Start of a continuous casting operation is facilitated by movable baffer plates disposed at open ends of the horizontal passage.

  • Patent number: 4759205
Abstract: A multi-pass rolling method which permits a multi-pass rolling-mill stand to perform multi-path rolling and still stabilize the rolling operation by preventing lateral deviation movement of a metal workpiece being rolled. The rolling-mill stand has three or more work rolls arranged one above the other and the workpiece is simultaneously rolled at two or more points by at least one of the work rolls. Directly or indirectly roll gaps are detected on the work and drive sides of at least one pass by sensors. A difference signal from the output signals of the sensors is obtained thereby determining a roll gap difference. Control devices are provided which are responsive to the difference signal for independently changing the roll gaps on the work and drive sides.

  • Patent number: 4750998
Abstract: A screen main body extends in a vessel of desalting-filtration device to section the interior of the vessel into an upper chamber in communication with an inlet through which a liquid to be treated is charged into the vessel and a lower chamber in communication with a liquid outlet. An ion-exchange filtration layer is disposed between the screen main body and the liquid outlet. Ferromagnetic filter elements which form a magnetic filtration layer when magnetized are piled on the screen main body such that the surface of the piled filter elements becomes free. Magnet insertion tubes made of a non-magnetic material vertically extend through the screen main body and a permanent magnet is vertically movably inserted into each magnet insertion tube so that when the permanent magnet is inserted into the magnet insertion tube, the filter elements surrounding the magnet insertion tube are magnetized; but when the permanent magnet is pulled out of the magnet insertion tube, the filter elements are de-magnetized.

  • Patent number: 4741666
Abstract: A turbine casing, a shroud and a gas outlet cover together define a closed doughnut-shaped space. A nozzle driving ring inserted in the space is slidably clamped by the turbine casing and the gas outlet cover. Nozzle shafts extending from nozzle blades are connected through links to the nozzle driving ring. The nozzle driving ring can be driven from outside the space. The nozzle driving ring for simultaneously varying the angle of the nozzle blades is restrained in the axial direction effectively with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4717337
Abstract: According to the present invention, white cement clinker particles are not burned in a rotary kiln and the burned clinker particles are not immersed in the water to be cooled. White cement clinker raw materials are burned in a fluidized bed burning furnace with a fluid bed or a spouted bed and the clinker particles thus burned are reduced with a reducing gas. The clinker particles thus reduced are first cooled with the water which is sprayed over the clinker particles and then further cooled with the air. The white cement clinker raw material particles fed into the fluidized bed burning furnace are burned into clinker particles while forming a fluidized bed and then the clinker particles thus burned drop through a jet injection pipe into a reduction chamber disposed below the burning furnace and are reduced. The clinker particles thus reduced are rapidly cooled to 600.degree.-700.degree. C.
