  • Patent number: 4581076
Abstract: Ions are selectively implanted into layers of a semiconductor substrate of, for example, semi-insulating gallium arsenide via a photoresist implantation mask and a metallic layer of, for example, titanium, disposed between the substrate surface and the photoresist mask. After implantation the mask and metallic layer are removed and the substrate heat treated for annealing purposes. The metallic layer acts as a buffer layer and prevents possible contamination of the substrate surface, by photoresist residues, at the annealing stage. Such contamination adversely affects the electrical properties of the substrate surface, particularly gallium arsenide substrates.

  • Patent number: 4578951
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dual-circuit hydraulic brake system with slip control, in particular for automotive vehicles, wherein wheel brakes (26, 27, 41, 42) are connected via electromagnetically actuatable multiple-position valves (38, 39, 88, 40, 24, 89) to brake circuits which are hydraulically isolated from one another, wherein the brake circuits are adapted to be pressurized by a tandem master cylinder (1), on the one hand, and are connectible to a dual-circuit pump aggregate (76, 77) adapted to be driven electromotively, on the other hand. Both outlets of the pump aggregate (76, 77) are connected to normally closed brake valves (43, 44) which are governed by the master cylinder pressure and separating valves (11, 12) which are adapted to be closed by the outlet pressure of the brake valves (43, 44) are inserted into the connections between the tandem master cylinder (1) and the wheel brakes (26, 27, 41, 42).

  • Patent number: 4578705
Abstract: A digital synchronization operation circuit synchronizes a pulse train with horizontal synchronizing pulses contained in a received standard television signal which, after being demodulated in the television receiver, is present as the composite color signal and which is fed to an analog-to-digital converter clocked by a clock signal. The digital synchronization separation circuit has an improved phase resolution such that the phase resolution is greater than the resolution provided by the pulse width of clocking signals.

  • Patent number: 4575312
Abstract: The invention is related to an impeller for a single vane type of centrifugal pump. In order to diminish the risk of clogging of the pump when pumping a fluid having a large impurity content, a vane having varying thickness is provided. In this manner, the speed reduced in the channel is limited resulting in a favorable flow pattern. Additionally, the vane may be made hollow in order to reduce unbalance problems.

  • Patent number: 4573136
Abstract: In a sum-of-products multiplier, such as is used in a digital filter, it is desired to be able to produce the sum of a number of independent multiplications of binary numbers each representing a signal value, i.e. ##EQU1## where v is the sum of products, u.sub.j are the inputs and a.sub.j are weighting coefficients by which the inputs are to be multiplied. A known multiplier functions on the basis of precomputed weighting coefficients stored in a memory but this needs a very large memory and the pre-computation needs a complex device with many adders. In the novel device the memory is split into two (or more) sub-memories between which the pre-computed coefficients are shared. The coefficients are extracted for use if an input digit is 1 (but not if it is 0) and are passed via an adder where they will add to the coefficients from the other sub-memory and passed to an accumulator/shifter whose content is shifted after each digit place and whose output is the sum of products.

  • Patent number: 4572055
Abstract: A power brake booster, in which the valve piston is slidably supported in the control hub and cooperates with the poppet valve, that is formed of any rubber-elastic material. The poppet valve is designed as a cone valve. Thus when the valve passage is opened, atmospheric air enters the working chamber from the air chamber through the opening, that is arranged in the control hub transversely to the booster's longitudinal axis, to flow in almost undisturbed and without turbulence. To ensure a reliable sealing seat, the peripheral surface of the truncated-cone-shaped end of the valve piston is equipped with a curcumferential groove, the one lateral wall of the groove forming together with the peripheral surface a sealing edge which reliably abuts on the plane plate surface of the poppet valve when the valve is closed.

  • Patent number: 4570760
Abstract: A floating-caliper spot-type disc brake whose caliper member is retained and guided on parallel pins clamped in the brake carrier member. A sealing boot is provided which protects the pins against moisture and dirt. One end of the sealing boot is armored by a crown spring having finger-shaped spring arms which firmly urge the one end against a part of the pin. A bellows portion succeeding the one end extends at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the pin and permits swivelling of the brake caliper relative to the brake carrier around one of both pins for a change of the pad without excess twisting of the sealing boot. The other end of the sealing boot is armored by a metal ring and engages with a groove which is provided at the open rim of the opening for the pin.

  • Patent number: 4568968
Abstract: The circuit contains three multipliers/adders for the luminance signal (y) and the two color-difference signals (r-y, b-y). For the output signals of these stages, four parallel adders are provided. The multipliers for the factors -0.51 and -0.19, which would be required in accordance with the color-television-system formula y=0.3r+0.59g+0.11b are rendered unnecessary because, among other things, the input signals are provided with correction factors (k, L, m) and correction addends (d, e, f) in the multipliers/adders in view of a presettable color overload.

  • Patent number: 4569031
Abstract: Such digital filters process digital input data occurring during short pulses of a filter sampling signal (fa) in the pure binary code and in two's complement notation. They contain a parallel-to-serial converter (pw) at the input end, at least one adder (ad), at least one shift register used as a status register (z), at least one multiplier circuit (m1) to which an input-data-dependent signal and a factor which is constant at least during the multiplication are applied as a multiplier and a multiplicand, respectively, and a serial-to-parallel converter (sw) at the output end. The status register (z) has, in addition to a number of stages determined by the number of digits of the input data, a number of stages equal to the number of digits of the multiplicand. The parallel-to-serial converter (pw) is followed by a digit complementer (se) which increases the number of digits of the output signal of the parallel-to-serial converter (pw) to that of the status register (z).

  • Patent number: 4567812
Abstract: Differential pressure brake boosters are known having a reinforcement tube extending axially through the low-pressure casing with its ends fastened to both end surfaces of the casing. A mechanically actuated control valve for connecting the working chamber to the low-pressure chamber or to atmosphere is axially movable in the reinforcement tube. A sleeve surrounding a master cylinder piston push rod has radial ribs extending through longitudinal slots of the reinforcement tube to connect the push rod to the movable wall. These ribs are subjected to a high bending stress. According to the present invention the radial ribs are constructed as flat tongues disposed in a common plane, the tongues being engaged on a side thereof adjacent the low-pressure chamber by an outwardly angled collar of an extension of the housing of the control valve.

  • Patent number: 4568967
Abstract: Digital color signal processing circuitry includes a multiplier which multiplies two demodulated digital color-difference signals by a digital color-saturation signal to provide three time-division-multiplexed signal pairs, each of which is added to the digital luminance signal by an adder. The color-saturation-signal input of the multiplier is preceded by a second multiplier to which the color-saturation signal and multiplier factors stored in a memory (sp) are applied. These multiplier factors are permanently stored by the manufacture of the color-television receiver or can be varied or adjusted during the operation of the receiver. The three adders are followed by three digital-to-analog converters which provide the analog color signals.
