  • Patent number: 5882047
Abstract: A fluid conduit quick connector includes first and second releasably connectable bodies. A tapered bore in the first body receives one end of a first conduit. A tubular extension projecting from one end of the second body is coaxially received in the conduit when the first and second bodies are releasably joined together. The conduit is sealingly compressed between the tapered bore and one or more projections on the extension. A third body carries another conduit and is releasibly connected to the second body. The third body also includes mounting members to fixedly mount the third body to a support.

  • Patent number: 5881096
Abstract: There is disclosed in a frequency hopping digital communications system having a transmitter for transmitting a data signal via a noisy transmission path, and a receiver responsive to the transmitted signal for receiving the same, a method for removing bias in the data signal at the receiver comprising the steps of: forming a sample amplitude histogram from the received data signal samples for a given hop frequency; correlating the amplitude histogram against a stored reference amplitude histogram to obtain a correlated output signal having a peak correlation position; determining the position difference between the peak correlation position and the correlation center position to provide an offset signal corresponding to the difference and indicative of an estimated bias offset value; and applying the estimated bias offset value to the received signal samples in response to the offset signal to obtain an output signal indicative of an unbiased received data signal.

  • Patent number: 5880614
Abstract: To evaluate the output signal of an active sensor which is configured as a binary current signal, a circuit arrangement is disclosed by which a proportional current is produced from the sensor current by way of a current mirror circuit. The current produced by a current mirroring operation is drawn from a stabilized voltage source by way of an ohmic resistance, and a binary voltage signal corresponding to the sensor output signal is generated thereby. The voltage signal is sent to a flipflop which compares the voltage signal with a reference value that is composed of a reference voltage and a hysteresis voltage. The change-over threshold of the flipflop is varied or adapted as a function of the actual sensor current, leakage currents, etc.

  • Patent number: 5871375
Abstract: A sensor assembly (10) for measuring oxygen in vehicle exhaust gasses, which must be connected by a plurality of wires (20) to a microprocessor, is modified to facilitate its installation and removal. In the modified assembly, each of a plurality of high temperature metal strips (34), which were previously crimped to cable wires, are instead bent to form contact pin parts (70) that are inserted into passages (74) of an insulative connector insert (72) to form a connector with pin contacts. Portions (120) of the metal strips are bent to have V-shaped cross-sections, to stiffen them against column collapse as the connector insert is moved forwardly to receive the pin parts, with front portions (110) of the insert passages being tapered to facilitate passage of the pin parts.

  • Patent number: 5872441
Abstract: A commutation circuit for a switched reluctance electric motor. Each phase coil in the motor discharges through a resistance. The resistance is progressively increased during discharge, to thereby decrease the overall time required for full discharge. This decrease in discharge time allows each phase coil to pass current for a longer time, thereby increasing torque which the motor produces.

  • Patent number: 5867313
Abstract: The present invention is a multifunctional night vision monocular that is adapted for use by a soldier as a hand-held spotting scope, a helmet mounted scope, a head mounted scope, and a weapon mounted scope depending upon circumstances and the needs of the soldier. The night vision monocular is a self-contained unit capable of carrying its own power source. A universal mount on the bottom of the night vision monocular enables either a helmet mounting adaptor or a weapon sight mount to be quickly added to the monocular. The night vision monocular contains a GEN III image intensifier tube positioned between an objective lens assembly and an eyepiece lens assembly. The housing of the night vision monocular opens in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis, thereby enabling easy access to the various optical elements for repairs, maintenance and replacement. A reduced number of wire leads are used within the night vision monocular thereby reducing manufacturing costs and improving reliability.

  • Patent number: 5866954
Abstract: A key cylinder, upon receiving a valid key, inserted through the key cylinder, is disengaged from a cylinder lock enabling the key and the key cylinder to be rotated between two positions. During rotation, an arm on the key cylinder engages a contact carrier to switch a contactor mounted on the carrier between two positions breaking one contact and subsequently making another contact. The contacts provide output signals to a vehicle passenger restraint apparatus to selectively alternatively place the passenger restraint apparatus in an "on" or "off" state.

  • Patent number: 5865511
Abstract: An electrohydraulic control mechanism having a simplified coil arrangement which provides a compact, functionally optimized configuration of coils relative to their support element, with added ease of manufacture and maintenance. The differing thermal expansions of assembly components and their respective tolerances are compensated for in stress-free fashion. • Patent number: 5867000
Abstract: A wiper control system including a current sensing device is used in conjunction with a park position switch to limit the current drawn by windshield wiper motor whenever the system experiences restrictions in a park mode. The arrangement of components is effective for preventing damage to the motor and motor control system caused by excessive current draw whenever the motor stalls, arcs, or experiences excessive loads. However, the current sensing portion of the circuit is essentially disabled when the motor is in its normal operating mode thus preserving the fail safe operation of the wipers.

  • Patent number: 5865090
Abstract: The present invention relates to a piston pump, in particular to the arrangement of the bearing ring for supporting the pump piston on an eccentric. The pump bearing includes a bearing ring and a plurality of bearing needles. The peripheral surface of the eccentric is radially inwardly offset in relation to the peripheral surface of the shaft. The two stepped transitions provide stop surfaces for the bearing needles. The bearing ring is supported on an inner ring for a main bearing, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, directly or indirectly on the stepped transition between a second area and a third area in a blind-end bore. Further, an auxiliary bearing is provided with a bearing ring which is made of a material inhering a high degree of wear. Testing the electric motor, used to drive the piston pump, before the piston pump is assembled is thereby permitted.
