  • Patent number: 5894219
Abstract: A device for determining rotary motions generally includes a signal generator with inwardly directed teeth or inwardly directed projections and a double-sided measuring coil which is arranged within the surface of the signal generator. The measuring coil has a core of permanent magnets and pole shoes. The pole shoes project from both sides of the coil and extend up to the inner surface of the signal generator. The pole shoes are designed, arranged and conformed to one another so that, whenever the end piece of a pole shoe points to a tooth or a projection, the second, diametrically opposite end of the pole shoe is directed to a tooth gap or depression. The measuring coil core is made up of at least two permanent magnets which are magnetized perpendicularly to the coil axis and respectively embedded between two pole shoes.

  • Patent number: 5890512
Abstract: High pressure natural gas enters the regulator at the inlet port and is directed through a filter to a passage in the valve body and into the inner chamber of the valve body. The valve means which controls the high pressure gas as it expands past a valve seat and into the low pressure chamber of the regulator body, is spring mounted in a bushing to prevent undesired vibrations. The expanded and colder low pressure natural gas is directed through a nozzle to the outlet port of the regulator body. The outlet port has a bypass orifice that leads to the diaphragm chamber. Pressure variations in the diaphragm chamber control the movement of the valve means coupled to the diaphragm means.

  • Patent number: 5890930
Abstract: A connector system is described wherein the most vulnerable parts of the front mating ends of a pair of connectors can be easily replaced in the field. The first connector (12, FIG. 2) includes a shell (20), a main insulator (22) within the shell, and main contacts (24) lying in the main insulator and having socket front ends (30). A first insert module (32) has an insert insulator (36) and insert contacts (38) with pin type rear ends. The first module is inserted into the shell of the first connector to mate with the main contacts. If the front ends (40) of the insert contacts are damaged, the connector can be repaired in the field by merely removing the first module and replacing it with another module. The second connector (14) is similarly constructed, with the modules (36, 36A) of the two connectors being identical so a single spare module can replace either one. The first module that lies in the first connector, has contact front ends forming sockets (40, FIG.

  • Patent number: 5887957
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for a brake system with electronic brake force distribution control includes circuits which determine the deceleration of the rear wheels and the deceleration of a vehicle or a corresponding reference quantity. The discrepancy of the filtered rear-wheel deceleration from the vehicle deceleration is evaluated for brake force distribution control. To this end, an output signal is produced by way of a differentiator and integrator comparing the rear-wheel deceleration and the vehicle deceleration, and the output signal is evaluated for the control of the braking pressure in the rear-wheel brakes.

  • Patent number: 5884732
Abstract: A composite brake adapter for a caliper disc brake assembly is made up of a first pre-stamped part of a sheet of metal adapted to match an axle housing of the assembly, and of a second part cast onto an upper surface of the first part to adhere thereto, additional structural elements providing matching of the second part with a caliper of the assembly being made an integral part of the second part. A method of making a composite brake adapter for a caliper disc brake assembly comprises the steps of providing a first part of the adapter, the first part being provided with mounting holes to match an axle housing of the assembly and being made of a sheet of metal; placing the first part into a mold, and casting a second part of the adapter into the mold onto a surface of the first part. To incorporate additional structural elements of the adapter with a caliper of the assembly, the additional structural elements are placed into a precision fixture and secured within the mold prior to casting the second part.

  • Patent number: 5884357
Abstract: The invention relates to a four-joint wiper arm for a windshield wiper system of a motor vehicle, with the so-called four-joint consisting of a primary lever that can be connected to the primary shaft, a control lever arranged lateral to the former, that can be connected to a supporting arbor and a coupling link connected by means of one joint respectively to the free ends of primary lever and control lever. At the end at which the control lever is coupled, the joint section of the wiper arm is pivoted to the coupling link in a conventional way. In order to preclude distortion in the four-joint assembly and thereby improve the wiping quality, one of the two joints is in the form of a ball-and-socket joint between the coupling link and primary lever or control lever and the other is in the form of a universal joint.

  • Patent number: 5887036
Abstract: A logical block is disclosed for decoding a data sequence encoded by a convolutional code, in which a given number of states are to be evaluated. These given states are assigned the given number of state memories which store an associated path and an accumulated distance value. The given number of state memories are associated with parallel processing blocks which each have, as the smallest group to be processed in parallel, two state memories to be read from first and second parallel processing blocks, and two state memories to be written into third and fourth parallel processing blocks. Optimum memory organization permits simple parallel processing and reduction in circuit complexity.

  • Patent number: 5884207
Abstract: The present invention describes a process for a vehicle including an electronic control system, which processes input signals representative of the rotational behavior of the individual wheels, and wherein the differences of the tire tread circumferences of the individual wheels are determined by way of short-time and long-time correction factors. The long-time correction factors LZ.sub.n. are determined from the differences D.sub.R1 between the short-time correction factors KZ.sub.R1 and the long-time correction factors LZ.sub.R1 of the respective wheel by averaging LM.sub.r1 the differences during a predetermined time interval and by evaluating and weighting the average value. For the quick identification of an emergency wheel, every time the vehicle engine is started, the long-time factor LZ.sub.R1 is equalled once to the short-time factor KZ.sub.
