Patent number: 5427150Abstract: A body of generally triangular cross-section has ports opening onto compartments formed therein, which are contiguous with, and fair into a curved drainage channel in the body. Too, diaphragm-controlled openings in the body are bisected by a partition, in traverse of the body, the edges of which define fluid-passing or -restricting weirs. The openings and lowermost portions of the weirs or edges of the partition also blend with, and fair into the channel level, whereby the body presents a horizontal drainage plane for fluids, when installed in a horizontal disposition in a fluid process piping system. Too, side walls of the body are inclined, defining therebetween an angle of from forty to eighty degrees of arc, to enhance fluid flow through the body.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1994Date of Patent: June 27, 1995Assignee: ITT CorporationInventors: Richard A. Patent number: 5427542Abstract: A connector is described that allows the connector main part (16, FIG. 2) to be pulled out of a coupling nut or part (24) when the cable (20) that extends rearwardly from the main part, is pulled with a large force. The main part is of the type that includes a metal shell (30) enclosing an insulator (32) that holds contacts (34) whose front ends mate with the contacts of a mating connector device (14) and whose rear ends connect to wires of the cable. The outside of the shell and the inside of the coupling part have adjacent grooves (56, 54), and an expandable ring-shaped retainer (52) lies in both grooves to normally hold the main part to the coupling part. The forward wall (74, FIG. 3) of the groove in the main part is inclined from an axial direction to form a ramp. If the main part is pulled rearwardly with a large force, the retainer expands as it rides up the ramp and past the front of the main part, to thereby release the main part from the coupling part and the connector device to which it is coupled.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1993Date of Patent: June 27, 1995Assignee: ITT CorporationInventor: John B. Patent number: 5424631Abstract: The present invention hybrid instantaneous frequency measurement (IFM) compressive receiver processes a wide bandwidth of incoming signals in two processing channels, where a small time delay is introduced to one of the two channels by a time delay stage. A comb generator provides for folding, or collapsing this wide input band into a much narrower bandwidth by overlapping sub-bands of the input band in the same frequency space. A compressive receiver is coupled to the spectrum folding circuitry for accurately measuring the frequency and amplitude of signals in this folded band, which have a sub-band ambiguity due to the folding. Logic circuitry is included for resolving the sub-band ambiguity in order to provide a unique description of the frequencies of input signals in the wide band input frequency range. The hybrid receiver overcomes the limitations of conventional IFM receivers by providing amplitude as well as frequency information for multiple time overlapped input signals with improved sensitivity.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1994Date of Patent: June 13, 1995Assignee: ITT CorporationInventor: Charles R. Patent number: 5421643Abstract: A brake system for automotive vehicles with electric drive is operable by an actuating pedal and uses hydraulic friction brakes to augment the braking effect generated by the electric drive motors. The coaction of the drive motors with the hydraulic friction brakes is controlled by an electronic controller. In order to largely conform the pedal characteristics of the mentioned brake system to that of a standard passenger car, an actuating pedal (5) is in force-transmitting and travel-transmitting connection with a spring (8) exhibiting a predetermined characteristic curve, and the master brake cylinder (11), uncoupled from the actuating pedal (5), is operable by an electromagnet (9) which is responsive to the controller (70). If the master brake cylinder accommodates two pressure chambers, a single valve is arranged in or on the master cylinder housing, and acts as both a bypass valve and a differential-pressure valve.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1993Date of Patent: June 6, 1995Assignee: ITT Automotive Europe GmbHInventors: Dieter Kircher, Peter E. Patent number: 5418778Abstract: An echo cancellation apparatus is included in a variable rate modem. The echo cancellation apparatus includes a local echo canceler, a remote echo canceler and a quadrature echo canceler unit. The local and remote echo cancelers both operate to cancel echoes in a similar manner employing topped delay lines or transversal filters wherein the taps of each delay line are adjusted to accommodate both local and remote echo cancellation. The local echo canceler and the remote echo canceler share many programs in common. However, the remote echo canceler operates with a phase lock loop which essentially derives a signal obtained from the quadrature and local echo cancelers which signal is further correlated with the output residuals from the local echo canceler to develop samples applied to the remote echo canceler and to derive a frequency which is indicative of a offset carrier frequency to enable the remote echo canceler to cancel remote echoes.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1993Date of Patent: May 23, 1995Assignee: ITT CorporationInventors: Peter Cummiskey, Marvin A. Patent number: 5417484Abstract: A hydraulic change-over valve is adapted for a vehicle brake system with anti-lock control and traction slip control which operates according to the return delivery principle during an anti-lock control operation and the self-priming pump of which takes in pressure fluid through the master brake cylinder during a traction slip control operation. The change-over valve is arranged in the suction line between a pump and a master brake cylinder and shuts off the connection during each pedal-operated braking operation and opens it during each traction slip control operation. To avoid negative effects on the brake pedal feeling, restrictors are provided which prolong the closing time of the switch-over valve so that the fluid volume for switching is received gradually and continuously. The switching position is determined by a diaphragm, whose effective surface depends on its flexure to afford a non-stick-slip operation.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1993Date of Patent: May 23, 1995Assignee: ITT Automotive Europe GmbHInventors: Hans-Dieter Reinartz, Erhard Beck, Stefan Risch

Patent number: 5415565Abstract: A holdown key (40, FIG. 5) is provided that holds a low profile connector housing (30) to a circuit board (16), which securely holds the key to the connector before installation in the circuit board, and which provides high retention in the circuit board with only moderate stress on the key material. The key has a pair of largely vertically-extending legs (60, 62) with lower ends that merge and with upper ends that are free of each other but which have locations (80, 80a) that abut each other when the legs are deflected toward each other. When the key is installed in a slot (50) of the connector housing, the legs are preferably deflected partially towards each other so the gap (B) between the locations is less than initially, but is not zero. However, when the key is fully installed in the circuit board, the locations abut each other to close the gap (C) and provide large retention force in the circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1992Date of Patent: May 16, 1995Assignee: ITT CorporationInventor: Rene A.
