  • Patent number: 5302251
Abstract: A press jacket is formed of an elastomeric jacket material having two layers of reinforcement threads, namely an inner layer and an outer layer, embedded in it. The inner layer is formed of longitudinal threads which upon operation of the press device extend parallel to the axis of rotation of the press jacket. The outer layer is formed by a fabric layer or by circumferential threads which are wound helically and which, upon operation of the press device, extend approximately in the direction of travel of the press jacket. The reinforcement threads are surrounded by the layer of elastomeric material, which is produced homogeneously. The inner surface of the press jacket has longitudinal grooves which extend parallel to the longitudinal threads and have a depth of 0.1 to 0.2 mm.

  • Patent number: 5299363
Abstract: A dry end of a paper making machine has a plurality of dryer groups each in turn comprised of a plurality of heatable dryer cylinders which alternate with reversal rolls. A respective support belt meanders past each dryer cylinder and the succeeding reversal roll in each dryer group. The web to be dried is supported on the side of each support belt to contact the heatable dryer cylinders. The reversal roll that precedes the first dryer cylinder in each succeeding group serves as a web removal roll which is wrapped by the second support belt of the succeeding dryer group. The first support belt of the preceding dryer group has the web on the side of the first belt which is toward the removal roll. The first support belt contacts the second support belt on the removal roll over a smaller part of the circumference of the removal roll than the second support belt. The removal roll transfers the web from the first support belt to the second support belt at the removal roll.

  • Patent number: 5289737
Abstract: In an elastic clutch of disk design, particularly a split flywheel for an internal combustion engine, a coupling including an oblong spring is arranged between two coupling halves that are mutually rotatable. Essentially stretched in relaxed condition, the spring is subdivided in two or more partial sections by wedge-shaped spring cups, the longitudinal axes of which partial sections have relative to one another a buckled arrangement. Obtained in this way is a spring favorable for specific operating conditions, with a low spring stiffness, but with the spring being composed of essentially straight-line partial sections. Provided thereby is a spring that can be manufactured at low cost, which, in operation, is favorably stressed and not subjected to any wear.

  • Patent number: 5256257
Abstract: In the press section of a paper making machine, there is a central roll, a first press roll beneath and a second press roll above the central roll defining respective first and second press nips. The first press nip or both nips may be extended nip presses. A water impervious press belt travels through the first press nip around the central roll and through the second press nip, meeting the central roll before the first nip and leaving the central roll after the second nip. A felt belt conducts the web to be dewatered into the first nip along with the press belt. The felt belt separates from the web after the first nip. Following the second press nip, the press belt carries the web to a place of removal where a dryer wire picks up the web. The distance from the second press nip to the place of removal is at least equal to the circumference of and is preferably greater than the circumference of the central roll.

  • Patent number: 5245264
Abstract: A real time straightness deviation measuring and compensation device for a machine tool that automatically and continuously compensates for bed way deviation from a truly straight line relative to a workpiece. A wire, parallel to the workpiece or axis of workpiece rotation and perpendicular to the direction of machine tool compensation is utilized as a straightness reference, with the wire being stretched in the direction of machine tool carriage travel and supported on either end by weights for gravity induced straightness. A position indication device, such as a laser micrometer, is attached to the machine tool carriage and positioned around the reference wire in order to read the position of the wire relative to the machine tool carriage during real time operation.
