  • Patent number: 5305689
Abstract: The axes of a first press roll (1) and of a second press roll (3) lie in a press plane (E). Each of the press rolls has a respective journal (2, 4). The first press roll is supported in a first bearing bracket (5). The second press roll rests in a second bearing bracket (6) which is coupled, by means of flexurally soft tie-bar groups (7a, 7b . . . , 8a, 8b . . . ), to the first bearing bracket (5). In the unloaded condition of the roll press, the second bearing bracket (6) rests on the first bearing bracket (5). In the loaded condition, however, a clearance (p) is established between the bearing brackets (5, 6), which permits the bearing brackets (5, 6) to be displaceable relative to each other in the axial direction of the press rolls.

  • Patent number: 5299363
Abstract: A dry end of a paper making machine has a plurality of dryer groups each in turn comprised of a plurality of heatable dryer cylinders which alternate with reversal rolls. A respective support belt meanders past each dryer cylinder and the succeeding reversal roll in each dryer group. The web to be dried is supported on the side of each support belt to contact the heatable dryer cylinders. The reversal roll that precedes the first dryer cylinder in each succeeding group serves as a web removal roll which is wrapped by the second support belt of the succeeding dryer group. The first support belt of the preceding dryer group has the web on the side of the first belt which is toward the removal roll. The first support belt contacts the second support belt on the removal roll over a smaller part of the circumference of the removal roll than the second support belt. The removal roll transfers the web from the first support belt to the second support belt at the removal roll.

  • Patent number: 5289737
Abstract: In an elastic clutch of disk design, particularly a split flywheel for an internal combustion engine, a coupling including an oblong spring is arranged between two coupling halves that are mutually rotatable. Essentially stretched in relaxed condition, the spring is subdivided in two or more partial sections by wedge-shaped spring cups, the longitudinal axes of which partial sections have relative to one another a buckled arrangement. Obtained in this way is a spring favorable for specific operating conditions, with a low spring stiffness, but with the spring being composed of essentially straight-line partial sections. Provided thereby is a spring that can be manufactured at low cost, which, in operation, is favorably stressed and not subjected to any wear.

  • Patent number: 5286245
Abstract: A flexure compensated roll comprising a rotatable roll shell around a longitudinally extending support therethrough. A longitudinally extending press shoe supported on the support. A piston movably supported on the support above a sealed pressure space. The piston has a saddle toward the interior of the roll casing. The shoe has a middle pressure chamber fluid connected with the pressure space of the piston. The shoe also has rows of hydrostatic pockets on both circumferential sides of the middle chamber. These are supplied by narrowed choke passages with hydraulic fluid. The supply of hydraulic fluid to the hydrostatic pockets bypasses the piston pressure space and/or the middle chamber and is from a pressure source to the hydrostatic pockets without pressure regulation. A regulating valve controls the force between the longitudinal support and the casing of the roll by setting the pressure in the middle chamber and by setting the pressure in the piston pressure space.
