Abstract: A fluorescent-lamp socket assembly has a socket, a standard base, and a starter base. The socket has a nonconductive housing having an open end and a pair of conductors in the housing engageable with contact pins of a lamp fitted to the housing and exposed in the open housing end. The standard base is shaped to fit complementarily into and close the open housing end and is formed with throughgoing holes through which wires can be engaged with the conductors. The starter base has a one-piece nonconductive housing having a plug end shaped to fit complementarily into and close the open housing end and an opposite end adapted to hold a starter and a conductor inside the starter-base housing for connecting a starter in the opposite end with one of the conductors in the socket.
Abstract: A photoelectric control structure for a linear transmission device, including a mount, a transmission gear mounted on the mount and coupled to a motor, a photoelectric circuit board mounted on the mount and having a phototransistor and an infrared light emitting diode which controls the phototransistor, a light chopper turned by the transmission gear to intermittently block light from the light emitting diode toward the phototransistor, and a chopper cover fastened to the mount and covering the light chopper and the photoelectric circuit board for protection, wherein when the motor is started, the transmission gear is driven to turn the light chopper, causing light to intermittently pass through to the phototransistor, and therefore the infrared light emitting diode intermittently drives the phototransistor to send a pulse wave signal to the signal input terminal of a satellite antenna allocator.
Abstract: Disclosed is a random packing element for use in exchange process apparatus, for example. The packing element features bowed strips and projections to provide an abundant supply of liquid flow surfaces, drip points and gas flow-through passages to enhance the interfacing of fluids in the exchange process packing bed, with various shapes for the packing element achieved by selecting the pattern of bowing of the strips and the attachment areas. The packing element also displays strips shortened to prevent collapse of the packing element, and ribs for strengthening the strips, projections and attachment areas.
Abstract: A photo chopper circuit consisting of a photo chopper, an overvoltage detection/control device, a power switch, and a protective diode for connection to the power supply line, voltage detection line, and ground terminal of a satellite antenna allocator, wherein if the photo chopper is erroneously connected to the voltage line of the satellite antenna allocator for motor drive or the power supply line of the satellite antenna allocator, the overvoltage detection/control device is turned on to switch off the power switch or, the protective diode reverses flow of voltage to protect the photo chopper.

The packing element features boughed strips and projections to provide an abundant supply of liquid flow surfaces, drip points and gas flow-through passages to enhance the interfacing of fluids in the exchange process packing bed.

Abstract: Hole forming and selftapping screw of up to approximately 6 mm thread diameter for tapping into sheet metal of a thickness of up to approximately 1 mm comprising a head including a formation for receiving a tool, a thread shank and a cylinder member following thereon having a diameter less than the thread-pitch diameter of the thread shank, merging into a tapered hole forming member. The thread shank merges with the cylinder member via a taper extending over approximately four threads, a distance corresponding approximately to the four-fold sheet metal thickness. The hole forming member terminates in a convexly curved friction surface corresponding to a radius (R) of approximately 0.5 mm. The entire screw is formed in one piece of tempered steel having a tensile strength of up to approximately 1400 N/mm.sup.2, mechanically hardened steel respectively.

Abstract: The invention relates to an optical device providing information to the driver of a motor vehicle, which includes a concave mirror (100), located below the lowered line of vision within the field of vision of the exterior, its concavity being directed towards the driver, and an imager (200) designed to direct a light signal to the mirror (100), characterized by the fact that the concave mirror (100) is defined by an O-dome.
Abstract: A device for measuring the level of fuel in a motor vehicle tank, the device being of the type comprising: a float suitable for following the level of the fuel; a lever hinged to a support and carrying the float; and an electrical transducer controlled by the lever so that the transducer supplies a signal representative of the level of fuel in the tank; wherein: the electrical transducer is placed in a fixed housing linked to a wall of the tank; the lever support is urged permanently against the bottom wall of the tank to follow any displacement thereof; and rotary link means are provided to provide a rotary connection between the float-carrying lever and a control shaft of the electrical transducer.

Abstract: A light-bulb socket has two main parts, namely a socket cup having a base provided with a pair of upwardly exposed contacts and formed with a plurality of throughgoing mounting holes and a base disk fitted tightly to the base of the cup and formed with passages through which conductors connected to the contacts can pass. The base disk is unitarily formed with a pair of mounting sleeves projecting upward through the mounting holes of the cup. The sleeves are formed as short tubes that are a tight force fit in the mounting holes and are each formed with a deformable rib to enhance the tight fit.
