  • Patent number: 11829008
Abstract: A molded contact lens comprising a stiffer optic zone relative to the peripheral zone of the contact lens provides an optical element for correcting astigmatism without the need for or substantially minimizing the need for the correction of rotational misalignment. The higher elastic modulus optic zone vaults over the cornea thereby allowing a tear lens to form. The tear lens follows or assumes the shape of the back surface of the contact lens. The combination of the tear lens and the optical zone provide an optical element for correction of refractive error.

  • Patent number: 11820850
Abstract: Provided are polymer compositions made by a process comprising: (a) providing a first reactive composition containing: (i) a polymerization initiator that is capable, upon a first activation, of forming two or more free radical groups, at least one of which is further activatable by subsequent activation; (ii) one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds; and (iii) a crosslinker; (b) subjecting the first reactive composition to a first activation step such that the first reactive composition polymerizes therein to form a crosslinked substrate network containing a covalently bound activatable free radical initiator, (c) combining the crosslinked substrate network with a second reactive composition containing one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds; and (d) activating the covalently bound activatable free radical initiator of the crosslinked substrate network such that the second reactive composition polymerizes therein with the crosslinked substrate network to form a grafted polymeric network and a

  • Patent number: 11795252
Abstract: Disclosed are co-polymers which are produced from reactive monomer mixtures and which have both high refractive index and a high Abbe number. These materials are well suited for use as implantable ophthalmic devices and have a refractive index which may be edited through application of energy. When used for an intraocular lens, the high refractive index allows for a thin lens which compresses to allow a small incision size.

  • Patent number: 11793684
Abstract: A packaged elongate sanitary protection product includes a folded sanitary protection product enveloped in a substantially circular package and having first and second arcuate end portions comprising first and second ends, respectively, separated by a central portion. The topsheet and backsheet are joined in a flange surrounding the absorbent structure, and the absorbent structure comprises at least three intersecting, substantially circular sections aligned along a longitudinal axis. A first circular section is associated with the first arcuate end portion, and a second section is associated with the second arcuate end portion, and a central portion is associated with at least one intervening substantially circular portion. The intersections define folding axes perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and enlarged flange sections of the topsheet and backsheet. The product is folded at the fold lines and the enlarged flange sections are folded inwardly to give the product a generally circular form.
