  • Patent number: 8293041
Abstract: A fiber laminate for use as an absorbent cleaning cloth is made by first preconsolidating by calendering at least one spun-bond web of filaments and then applying at least one fiber layer of hydrophilic natural or converted cellulose fibers to the pre-consolidated spun-bond web. The two layers are then hydrodynamically consolidated into a two-layer laminate, and a surface of the hydrodynamically consolidated two-layer laminate is embossed.

  • Patent number: 8146626
Abstract: A flexible container has a container body with container walls that define a container interior. A container socket is connected to the container body and has a container opening through which the container interior is filled. Carrying loops are connected to the container body for lifting the container. The container socket has an initial retracted position in the container interior and is transferable from the initial retracted position into an upright filling position. The container socket is at least partially comprised of an elastically expandable material. The flexible container is filled by inserting into the container socket a filling tube, contacting with the filling tube the container socket in the initial retracted position, and transferring the container socket to the upright filling position and keeping the container socket secured on the filling tube in the upright filling position. The bulk material is introduced through the filling tube into the flexible container.

  • Patent number: 8141809
Abstract: An apparatus for winding a flexible web continuously moving in a longitudinal travel direction as rolls onto sleeves has a winding station for holding a sleeve and rotating it about an axis for winding the web onto the sleeve. Upstream of the winding station at a changeover station a fresh sleeve is held adjacent the continuously moving web. A shell juxtaposed with the fresh sleeve in the changeover station forms therewith a gap. A cross-cutter for the web is provided adjacent an end of the gap and can form on the web a trailing end and a leading end so that the trailing end travels to the winding station for winding on the sleeve therein. Air is drawn air into the end of the gap to aspirate the leading end into the gap. This leading end is electrostatically adhered to the fresh sleeve in the changeover station.

  • Publication number: 20110304071
Abstract: Foil extrusion lines use spiral distributors for producing a melt which is as homogeneous as possible during operation. The spiral distributors are mostly available as cylindrical or conical axial spiral distributors or as radial spiral distributors. The spiral distributors have spiral channels. These run in a multiple spiral arrangement so that rather flat horizontal edges are formed precisely in initial sections and vertical edges are formed between the beginning of spiral channels and transition sections of adjacent spiral channels. The melt can easily adhere there. The invention proposes to provide acceleration means for the melt in critical areas. For this, the invention provides for instance for a modification of the course or the cross-section of the channels or the surface.

  • Publication number: 20110304070
Abstract: Spiral distributors for plastic melt are often used for manufacturing foils in blown film extrusion lines. They overlie several partial flows of melt on their way to the ring-shaped outlet nozzle. The spiral distributors are designed either as cylindrical or truncated cone-shaped axial spiral distributors or as plate-shaped radial spiral distributors. In an axial spiral distributor several spiral channels are disposed as a multiple screw. In the case of a radial spiral distributor, several spiral channels are disposed as multiple spirals. The invention proposes to provide the spiral channels with shortening sections in their backward area. As compared to a geometrical rule for a discontinuation of the spiral channels which is valid in a prior section of the spiral channels, this leads to a faster discontinuation of the spiral channels. The invention has observed that the design of the backward area of the spiral channels does not affect the good overlaying effect of the front part of the spiral channels.

  • Patent number: 8029259
Abstract: An array of nozzles is disclosed for forming multiple cellulose fibers. Each nozzle has a longitudinal central axis and includes a tube with a cross-section having a diameter through which an aqueous solution of cellulose and a solvent can be extruded into a molten filament. A first opening is present which surrounds each of the tubes. The first opening has a cross-section with a diameter, and each of the first openings is capable of emitting a pressurized gas which surrounds one of the extruded molten filaments. At least three second openings are spaced away from each of the first openings. Each of the second openings is capable of emitting a pressurized gas stream essentially parallel to the longitudinal central axis of each of the nozzles, and each of the pressurized gas streams functions to shroud one of the extruded molten filaments.

  • Patent number: 8029260
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for extruding cellulose fibers. The apparatus includes a first member, a second member and a third member all secured together. Multiple nozzles extend outward from the first member and each is designed to direct an aqueous cellulose solution therethrough. As the aqueous solution is extruded, it is accentuated and accelerated by pressurized gas flowing through the first member and the second member and out through first openings formed in the third member. The pressurized gas at least partially surrounds each nozzle and shelters the molten filaments extruded therefrom. The third member also has multiple second openings formed therethrough which are also connected to a source of pressurized gas. The pressurized gas streams exiting each of the second openings function to keep each of the molten filaments from contacting an adjacent molten filament.

  • Patent number: 7981357
Abstract: A spunbond web is made by extruding a multiplicity of hot thermoplastic filaments, passing the filaments along an upstream stretch of a path, cooling and stretching the filaments as they move along the upstream stretch of the path, and depositing the cooled and stretched filaments at a downstream end of the upstream stretch on a foraminous belt such that the filaments form a mat thereon. The belt is continuously displaced the belt so as to move the mat downstream along a downstream leg of the path. The mat on the belt, then consolidated with a high-pressure water-jet treatment, and further processed.

  • Publication number: 20110101150
Abstract: A winding device for winding a continuously arriving material web onto a reel, including a contact roller by which the material web can be guided and transferred to the reel in contact with the surface of the contact roller. The contact roller has a support tube and fibers, which protrude from the outside of the support tube and form the surface of the contact roller. The fibers extend essentially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the contact roller so that first ends of the fibers are affixed to the support tube and their other free ends define a surface of the contact roller.

  • Patent number: 7849813
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a liquid to a moving web has an applicator element having a surface extending transverse to the web-travel direction and positioned to contact the moving web. Liquid applied to the surface is transferred to the moving web where the moving web contacts the surface. A support spaced in the web-travel direction from the applicator element has a plurality of guides extending transverse to the web-travel direction, with at least some of the guides overlapping others of the guides. Respective shields slidable in the guides transverse to the direction extend between the web and the surface so that where the shields extend between the moving web and the surface there is generally no transfer of the liquid from the surface to the moving web. Respective adjusters connected to the shields shift same in the respective guides between positions spaced from one another to positions at least partially overlapping one another.

  • Patent number: 7849902
Abstract: An apparatus for making a spunbond web has a foraminous deposition belt, a system for depositing fibers on the belt such that some of the fibers engage through the belt, and an output roller over which the belt is spanned for normally advancing an upper stretch of the belt in a transport direction toward the output roller. The output roller has a radially outwardly directed outer surface engaging the belt and formed with a profiling in turn formed by high spots contacting the belt and low spots out of contact with the belt so that fibers engaged through the belt are only pinched between the belt and the output roller at the high spots. The web is pulled downstream off the belt at the output roller.

  • Patent number: 7762800
Abstract: An apparatus for making a spunbond web has a deposition surface, a spinneret above the surface for producing filaments that move downward along a path toward the surface, and a cooling chamber below the spinneret. Cool process air is supplied to the chamber to cool the filaments as they pass downward through the chamber. A laterally closed stretching unit downstream of the cooling chamber has laterally closed side walls that have portions that diverges downward. A connecting region between the stretching unit and the cooling chamber substantially excludes access of air from outside to the filaments as they pass from the cooling chamber to the stretching unit so that the filaments drop from the stretching unit onto the deposition surface.
