  • Patent number: 5899301
Abstract: An elevator machinery (1) with a disc type motor is mounted on one of the guide rails (6) of the elevator car or counterweight. The guide rail (6) constitutes a part adding to the mechanical strength of the elevator machinery. The vertical forces applied to the traction sheave (4) by the elevator ropes are passed to the guide rail (6) via the rolling center of a bearing. The elevator machinery is provided with a damping system to absorb vibrations and oscillations. The elevator machinery (1) of the invention is light in weight, needs only a small space when mounted and is inexpensive to manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5886696
Abstract: In a display (202) comprised in an elevator system, more than one floor symbol (205) but less than all the floor symbols corresponding to different floors in the elevator system are highlighted at a time. At least the floor symbol corresponding to the current position and that corresponding to the next floor in the travelling direction is highlighted. The display is preferably so controlled that it scrolls the floor symbols (205) with respect to the car symbol (203). When the elevator car is at a given floor, the floor symbol corresponding to such floor coincides with the car symbol, and when the elevator car moves away from the floor, the floor symbol ceases to coincide with that car symbol, and as the car comes to the next floor, the corresponding floor symbol coincides with that car symbol.

  • Patent number: 5848671
Abstract: The invention relates to a procedure for stopping an elevator car at a landing, in which procedure the travelling velocity and position of the elevator in the shaft are measured and a distance from the landing, i.e. a deceleration point at which deceleration is started, is determined for one travelling velocity, i.e. a reference velocity. According to the invention, the deceleration point is changed in proportion to the difference between the measured travelling velocity and the reference velocity.

  • Patent number: 5837948
Abstract: The elevator machinery (26) comprises a motor (6) and its traction sheave (18). The rotor (17) is disc-shaped and air gap (ag) between it and the stator (14) can turn a plane which is substantially perpendicular to the shaft (13). The stator (14) forms a ringlike sector (28) and is placed in an outer part and the traction sheave (18) is fixed to the rotor, between the stator (14) and the shaft (13). The diameter of the traction sheave is smaller than that of the rotor. The structure of the motor allows the use of traction sheaves (18) of different diameters (2*Rv) with rotors (17) of the same diameter. The motor is very flat. In other words, its length in the axial direction is small.

  • Patent number: 5794746
Abstract: A door sill arrangement for an elevator has a profiled sill element with upper and lower grooves. First and second door panels of the elevator are provided with first and second sliding guides, respectively. The first and second sliding guides move in the upper and lower grooves of the profiled sill element when the doors are opened. Upper and lower plastic bars are attached to the first and second sliding guides, respectively. The upper and lower plastic bars are pulled by the front sliding guides, when the door panels are opened. The upper and lower plastic bars slide along through the upper and lower grooves and substantially fill or cover the grooves which would otherwise be exposed when the door panels are opened.

  • Patent number: 5787020
Abstract: The invention relates to a procedure and an apparatus for analyzing elevator functions and detecting deviating functions. By monitoring signals associated with traffic events in the elevator system, an analyzer connected to the elevator learns the normal operation of each elevator independently. Signals occurring during operation are compared with the information thus acquired and a failure alarm is produced or the information is altered to make it accord with the new, changed situation.
