  • Patent number: 7365811
Abstract: Alignment of an imaging area of a display with a user's eye provides optimum image quality for the user. Typically, a display is formed of a display panel encased within a carrier. The carrier is used to mechanically align the display panel within a device housing. However, the display panel must first be aligned within the carrier and the carrier and display combination aligned within a device housing. By utilizing the display panel without the carrier, one alignment step is removed from the installation process. Placing the display panel within a housing having an alignment device ensures proper alignment of an imaging area of the display panel with an opening of the housing.

  • Patent number: 7345327
Abstract: A semiconductor material which has a high carbon dopant concentration includes gallium, indium, arsenic and nitrogen. The disclosed semiconductor materials have a low sheet resistivity because of the high carbon dopant concentrations obtained. The material can be the base layer of gallium arsenide-based heterojunction bipolar transistors and can be lattice-matched to gallium arsenide emitter and/or collector layers by controlling concentrations of indium and nitrogen in the base layer. The base layer can have a graded band gap that is formed by changing the flow rates during deposition of III and V additive elements employed to reduce band gap relative to different III-V elements that represent the bulk of the layer. The flow rates of the III and V additive elements maintain an essentially constant doping-mobility product value during deposition and can be regulated to obtain pre-selected base-emitter voltages at junctions within a resulting transistor.

  • Patent number: 7138993
Abstract: An AC-coupled display driver circuit includes one or more DC-restore switches that are integrated within a liquid crystal display. A liquid crystal display system includes a coupling capacitor coupled at one end to a system input video signal, the coupling capacitor providing a display input video signal having a DC level offset. A liquid crystal display device coupled to another end of the coupling capacitor receives the first display input video signal at a video input for driving the display device. A switch integrated within the display device provides DC restore to the coupling capacitor.

  • Publication number: 20060081963
Abstract: A bipolar transistor includes a base layer design and a method for fabricating such a bipolar transistor that employ a built-in accelerating field focused on a base region adjacent to a collector, where minority carrier transport is otherwise retarded. The accelerating field of the base layer includes on average, a relatively low p-doping level in a first region proximate to the collector and a relatively high p-doping level in a second region proximate to an emitter. Alternatively, the accelerating field can be derived from band gap grading, wherein the grade of band gap in the first region is greater than the grade of band gap in the second region, and the average band gap of the first region is lower than that of the second region.

  • Patent number: 7002180
Abstract: A bonding pad for an electrode is in contact with p-type gallium nitride-based semiconductor material that includes aluminum. The bonding pad may also includes one or more metals selected from the group consisting of palladium, platinum, nickel and gold. The bonding pad can be used to attach a bonding wire to the p-electrode in a semiconductor device, such as a light-emitting diode or a laser diode without causing degradation of the light-transmission and ohmic properties of the electrode. The bonding pad may be formed of substantially the same material as an electrode in making an ohmic contact with n-type gallium nitride-based semiconductor material (n-electrode). This allows the bonding pad and the n-electrode to be formed simultaneously when manufacturing a gallium nitride-based light-emitting device which substantially reduces the cost to manufacture the device.
