Abstract: An AC-coupled display driver circuit includes one or more DC-restore switches that are integrated within a liquid crystal display. A liquid crystal display system includes a coupling capacitor coupled at one end to a system input video signal, the coupling capacitor providing a display input video signal having a DC level offset. A liquid crystal display device coupled to another end of the coupling capacitor receives the first display input video signal at a video input for driving the display device. A switch integrated within the display device provides DC restore to the coupling capacitor.

  • Patent number: 6558008
Abstract: A method of fabricating a display system includes bonding a silicon substrate to a second substrate with an insulating layer. • Patent number: 6552704
Abstract: An active matrix color sequential liquid crystal display has an active matrix circuit, a counterelectrode panel and an interposed layer of liquid crystal. The active matrix circuit has an array of transistor circuits formed in a first plane. Each transistor circuit is connected to a pixel electrode in an array of pixel electrodes having a small area. The counterelectrode panel extends in a second plane that is parallel to the first plane, such that the counterelectrode panel receives an applied voltage. The liquid crystal layer is interposed in a cavity between the two planes. In a preferred embodiment, an oxide layer extends over the pixel electrode array. The oxide can have a first thickness in a peripheral region around the array of the pixel electrodes and a thinner second thickness in a pixel electrode region extending over the array of pixel electrodes.

  • Patent number: 6521940
Abstract: The invention relates to device processing, packaging and interconnects that will yield integrated electronic circuitry of higher density and complexity than can be obtained by using conventional multi-chip modules. Processes include the formation of complex multi-function circuitry on common module substrates using circuit tiles of silicon thin-films which are transferred, interconnected and packaged. Circuit modules using integrated transfer/interconnect processes compatible with extremely high density and complexity provide large-area active-matrix displays with on-board drivers and logic in a complete glass-based modules. Other applications are contemplated, such as, displays, microprocessor and memory devices, and communication circuits with optical input and output.

  • Publication number: 20020163014
Abstract: A semiconductor material which has a high carbon dopant concentration includes gallium, indium, arsenic and nitrogen. The disclosed semiconductor materials have a low sheet resistivity because of the high carbon dopant concentrations obtained. The material can be the base layer of gallium arsenide-based heterojunction bipolar transistors and can be lattice-matched to gallium arsenide emitter and/or collector layers by controlling concentrations of indium and nitrogen in the base layer. The base layer can have a graded band gap that is formed by changing the flow rates during deposition of III and V additive elements employed to reduce band gap relative to different III-V elements that represent the bulk of the layer. The flow rates of the III and V additive elements maintain an essentially constant doping-mobility product value during deposition and can be regulated to obtain pre-selected base-emitter voltages at junctions within a resulting transistor.
