    Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention is a process for producing 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid comprising oxidizing 2,6-diisopropylnaphthalene or its partially oxidized intermediate with molecular oxygen in a solvent containing at least 50% by weight of an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, having not more than three carbon atoms, in the presence of a catalyst composed of (i) a heavy metal comprising cobalt and/or manganese and (ii) bromine, and a salt of an inorganic acid having an acid dissociation constant Ka smaller than 1.34.times.10.sup.-5 (at 25.degree. C.) and a vapor pressure lower than that of the aliphatic monocarboxylic acid used as the solvent. According to the process of this invention, 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid of high bulk density can be obtained in a high yield and with high purity.

    Abstract: A process for forming a polyarylenethioether stretched blow molded vessel, by a modified blow molding of a substantially linear polyarylenethioether having a melt viscosity of 3,000 to 20,000 poise [at 310.degree. The modified blow molding involves injecting the polymer in a mold to form a bottomed parison, stretching the bottomed parison along its axis by means of a rod or mandrel, and the stretched bottomed parison is then subjected to blow molding to effect lateral stretching. The blow parison is then heat set.

C. while introducing an inert gas thereinto to remove volatile components therefrom, is subjected to melt-spinning, infusibilization (therosetting) and carbonization and the thus obtained carbonized-fibers are subjected to heat treatment at a temperature of not less that 900.degree. C. to obtain the carbon fibers.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a composition of polyarylene thioether prepared by combining 0.001 to 10 parts by weight of kaoline of the mean particle diameter of 0.03 to 2 .mu.m with 100 parts by weight of polyarylene thioether having the repeating unit of ##STR1## as the main constituent. The composition of polyarylene thioether has a high crystallization rate and forms a minute spherulite structure. Moreover, the composition having a short molding cycle at the time of melt molding, generates a small amount of the flash and gives the molded products excellent in mechanical properties.Disclosed herein also is a composition prepared by further combining an inorganic filler and/or a fibrous filler with the above-mentioned composition of polyarylene thioether.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a polyarylene thioether composition comprising: 100 parts by weight of a polyarylene thioether (A) which contains not less than 70 wt % of a repeating unit of ##STR1## and 0.01 to 15 parts by weight of a polyarylene thioether (B), which is a nucleating agent and contains not less than 50 wt % of a repeating unit of ##STR2## as the main constituent and has a melting point of not lower than 290.degree. C. or a melt crystallization temperature of not lower than 220.degree. C. This composition may further comprise 0.1 to 300 parts by weight of an inorganic filler and/or a fibrous filler. A 50% crystallization time, t.sub.1/2, at 250.degree. C. of the polyarylene thioether composition is not more than 1/1.5 of the 50% crystallization time of a polyarylene thioether which does not contain the polyarylene thioether (B) Accordingly, its melt molding cycle is short and its molded product has a high strength.
